Well, looks like Cleveland isn't going to the playoffs next year

Puh-lease... The last thing Browns fans care about is Davonne Bess.

This Fark headline, unfortunately, has become more true than many headlines about the story.

Sounds like a candidate for the head coaching position.

It will take our minds off our stunningly successful coaching search

This guy (along with Greg Little) was a good complement to Gordon and Cameron in Norv's offense.  Despite what numbers said, I believe they are (were?) a consistent quarterback away from being an offense to take very seriously.

/Let's not talk about their defense right now.

Uhh...yeah. I'm gonna have to go ahead and 'disagree' with you there. The only thing Bess caught was a case of the dropsies as soon as he arrived in Cleveland. We would've beaten Kansas City (in KC) if not for him. He is the worst "possession" receiver I've ever seen. And Little...? He's a good blocker, that's the best thing I can say about him. He drops nearly everything thrown his way.

Cut bait with both of them.

Little was one of the guys Chud got into an argument w/ Lombardi over whether to cut them or not (Lombardi wants him gone).

That man's life is on a baggage train about to derail. At least he has weed to soften the landing.

wouldja look at that?  For fun I went and looked a little further - I remember Bess as the 50-75 catch guy in Miami who you'd probably expect 42 receptions from after Cleveland's QB carousel this year.  So I went and looked for detail and...seems you're right.  Overall his DYAR was 2nd worst in the NFL of players with 50+ targets.  Worst?  Mr. Little.

Bess's catch rate was 49%  (you'd want to be about 60% or higher to be adequate to good).
Between Bess and Little, you get 300 yards per year fewer than you would if you signed an average receiver.  Gordon makes up for that by giving you a 337 yards more than a replacement, though his catch rate was a modest 55%.

This brings up a good question.  If/when pot becomes legal across the board, will it disappear from pro sports testing lists of banned substances?

Yesterday? Pretty sure I saw that pic nearly a month ago.

You might consider that Cleveland's QBs are sh*t awful, if a beast like Gordon can only put up 55% and guys who have been productive, if not great, elsewhere are the worst in the league at that.

Though certainly not foolproof, you can tell a lot about players by their Fantasy Football "life". When you're outside the top 100 WRs and owned by 2% and 6% of people, no one expects anything of you. At all. So good complement is a biiiit of a stretch.

Now Gordon on the other hand is a bona fide Top 4 receiver in the league. If the Browns had shopped him and he doesn't slip up and get suspended for a year, any team trading for him would have gotten an absolute steal, even for a first round pick.

Ha!  That's what I was going to say.  And I'll hazard a guess that anything that he has made will be gone very soon, if it isn't already.

Also, judging by the photo, this guy ain't no rocket scientist and probably hasn't invested or saved a penny.
