Clearly the viewers are violating the Robertsons' first amendment rights, and something should be done!

superdolfan1: So let's see, it had 8 million viewers, which is 28% down from last year. How does that compare with the rest of the cable shows? If only there were a service that would give us the numbers for the week...

But wait, there is! Looks like it beat out pretty much every other cable show out there.

Cable week: HBO's True Detective opened with 2.3 million Sunday, followed by 1 million for two Girls episodes; Showtime's Shameless claimed 1.7 million, followed by House of Lies (842,000) and Episodes (543,000). Tuesday starts: BET's Being Mary Jane (3.3 million); ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars (3.2 million); FX's Justified and OWN's The Haves and Have Nots (2.8 million each); TBS's Cougar Town (1.9 million Tuesday). And MTV's Teen Wolf scored a series-high 2.5 million with Monday's return.

He's not going to f*ck you, dude. I would think that would be particularly clear in this situation.

Damn that cagey GQ magazine for forcing Robertson into that interview and making him say those horrible things!

Obviously they lost all those Westboro Baptist sympathizers who promised to boycott A&E when Mr. Duck was first suspended.

So, some of the other series are up while DD lost viewers. I have to admit that I am surprised that the DD viewers are heading over to Teen Wolf.

justtray: ManateeGag: But seriously, who, other than a die hard redneck, would give up an NFL career because it conflicted with hunting season. Or was that story made up for PR purposes?

Also, is this what you were going with? Because you might want to get your facts straight before you start with the ridiculous distortions of reality. Or do you think 1960s NFL is the same as 2010s NFL?

Guy didn't even play his senior season in college, never had any NFL career or even an offer. How much do you think NFL players made in the 1960s exactly?

Just give it up bud, they aren't gonna sleep with you and I'm really sorry your imaginary perception of them was found out to be a lie. I had the same reaction when I found out Santa wasn't real when I was six.

Have you seen Deliverance?  They just might!

I'm sure the ratings will continue to fall - you can only do silly skits for so long before nobody cares... or you could be Saturday Night Live.

There's somebody who still cares about Saturday Night Live?

MyRandomName: Lord_Baull: MyRandomName: 8 million viewers. What shiatty ratings. I don't know how to calculate percentages.

Lol. Coming from a liberal that is funny. Do you believe there are fluctuations in viewership naturally? Should I list the yearly numbers of any hit tv show to show your ignorance? Viewers from year to year always vary.

I love the way that you threaten to do that, as though the very threat makes some kind of point, without actually carrying through and doing the exercise.

So the answer is yes, you should list the yearly number of any (any!?) hit TV show if you intend to make a point by doing so, otherwise you're just blowing farts.

I never really understood the defense of this program since it's nothing more than a redneck minstrel show.

Al Sharpton and Rachel Maddox frown on your racial pejorative.

They object to the term "redneck," or are you just making things up again?

So did Jersey Shore once upon a time. How's that show going now?

DD is dead. It just doesn't know it yet. Once the hype of, "lets piss off the liberals by watching" ends, this show will be cancelled and all the 'reality stars' on it forgotten.

HA!  Where are all the people who thought it was all a publicity stunt?  Did you really believe that lazy bit of rationalization?  Or were you just trying to diminish what happened?  Like when other cultural leaders such as Limbaugh or Coulter say something insanely idiotic and get the "just an entertainer" bailout?*

I said it while this was going on...they had NOTHING to gain in this.  It was not going to attract new fans, and would only push away those who were borderline curious to begin with.

Just accept that people like this exist and, surprise, they have no social filter.

*(entertainers may speak about politics if they are conservative...liberal entertainers need to STFU and do their jobs!)

Here's the thing: after the Chick-fil-A flap, you had people lining up around the block to go there to show support.  The right wing derp blogs were crowing about how ratings were going to be higher than ever after this because Real 'Muricans were tired of the libs telling them what to watch.

That said, my guess is it has more to do with people just getting tired of the show. Oh, what crazy things are these bearded rednecks gonna do this week?

Which in no way changes the fact that Duck Dynasty's ratings dropped 28% from last season's premiere. But hey, you talked about a lot of unrelated stuff!
