Could is get my bias confirmed that this is totally because of the outrage and not because the ADHD American public has moved to the next shiny reality show? I can by reading the Fark comments? Awesome!

bradkanus: They had kept their right-wing crap out of the show.  It was an outside source that brought it in.

I'm sure the ratings will continue to fall - you can only do silly skits for so long before nobody cares... or you could be Saturday Night Live.

Somebody cares about SNL?

MyRandomName: Lord_Baull: MyRandomName: 8 million viewers. What shiatty ratings. I don't know how to calculate percentages.

Lol. Coming from a liberal that is funny. Do you believe there are fluctuations in viewership naturally? Should I list the yearly numbers of any hit tv show to show your ignorance? Viewers from year to year always vary.

Am I to gather noone watches college hoops (in favor of the duck show) now that the season is in full swing?

Which shiny new reality show would that be? Wouldn't it have to be at the same time slot for your point to matter?

Why does this belong in the Politics tab?

Personally, I don't give a shiat how many crosseyed bucktoothed shotgun-totin' inbred moonshine-slurpin' mental defectives while away their empty, craptastic lives by watching that, or any other, mental sewage reality show.

Thank you bringing us this raw story. Where else could I turn for unfiltered tv ratings news?

My only problem with the show is they don't kill enough ducks. Phil's hunting videos from the 90's were awesome duck slaughtering things to behold.

superdolfan1: So let's see, it had 8 million viewers, which is 28% down from last year.  How does that compare with the rest of the cable shows?  If only there were a service that would give us the numbers for the week...

But wait, there is!  Looks like it beat out pretty much every other cable show out there.

Cable week: HBO's True Detective opened with 2.3 million Sunday, followed by 1 million for two Girls episodes; Showtime's Shameless claimed 1.7 million, followed by House of Lies (842,000) and Episodes (543,000). Tuesday starts: BET's Being Mary Jane (3.3 million); ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars (3.2 million); FX's Justified and OWN's The Haves and Have Nots (2.8 million each); TBS's Cougar Town (1.9 million Tuesday). And MTV's Teen Wolf scored a series-high 2.5 million with Monday's return.

8 million viewers and second place is 3.3 million? They are 2.5x ahead of their nearest competitor?

Is that even factually accurate?

Sorry, I still can't find anywhere statements where Phil Robertson was being racist or homophobic. Can you find a source for me? Hint: you won't be able to.

ManateeGag: Super_pope: ManateeGag: So, you're saying they grew out the breads for A&E and soley for A&E?

It was probably more about repping their brand.  I'm not saying they don't LIKE this stuff, but they've concocted a very particular image of themselves as gross backwoods cousin-farking-hicks to sell their products to people that (for whatever reason) find that awesome.

i have no doubt Willie had the idea that no looking like GQ models will help him sell hunting stuff to hunters, but *I'M* saying they did it way before A&E showed up.

But seriously, who, other than a die hard redneck, would give up an NFL career because it conflicted with hunting season.  Or was that story made up for PR purposes?

Someone who doesn't worship money? Heaven forbid!

[assets-s3.usmagazine.com image 467x382]

you look the exact same as you did 15 years ago?

Stop with this. It's not a valid counter argument.

That picture shows that they are not, in fact, rednecks, but actors pretending to be them. Or have you seen many rednecks with frosted tips?

Looks may change, but you don't just get to become a redneck one day. Or wait, that's EXACTLY what they did. And those aren't the only pictures. They're ALL posers. Every single one of them.

So, you're saying they grew out the breads for A&E and soley for A&E?

Also - lets ask a better question(s).

Would you watch the show if all the main guys had short frosted tips?
Do you think the show would have as high ratings as it does if they did?

Um, remember Queer Eye for the Straight Guy?

It helps if you search sites other than Fox News and the 700 Club, and are willing and able to engage your brain using something called "critical thinking."

Brony, my critical thinking skills are just fine. That's exactly why I never found his quotes to be racist or homophobic. Sorry that I refuse to twist what someone says just so it will fit an agenda or be ammo for a feeble shame tactic. He said nothing racist. He said nothing homophobic. Try pulling your head out of your ass, get off the liberal hate-wagon, and think for yourself.

I'm just glad Phil Robertson's stupid homophobic talk was not rewarded with higher ratings (or even the same) - looks like A&E wasn't so dumb after all!

Of course, you really have to bend over backwards to not call Phil Robertson's recent talk racist or homophobic.  You must be some sort of crazy excuse-making acrobat!
