I can just imagine some idiotic group of writers thinking this is a fantastic idea but not taking steps to protect themselves...

There is no scarcity of young entrepreneurial rappers in Atlanta trying to make it big, both in drugs and/or rap. However, I would take their threats with a grain of salt. They may seem intimidating with their low riding pants, wife-beater shirts, and cap on sideways, but almost all live in some shiat-ass Section 8 housing with their auntie (pronounced the old English way) and do not even have the means to get to the other side of town unless they steal a car.*

Sounds like the author of the article was just setting bait for his story. The stupid sap that bit was probably going to send him some Nyquil in a Sprite bottle, if anything at all. I hardly think the dude was going to send his "posse" out to off the guy for reneging on the deal. But it is good for clicks and reinforcing our fear of ghetto monsters and blood lust murderers that are melanin enhanced.

um...most, if not all, of this thread is dedicated to making fun of purple drank, the emoticons used in the message, and the inability to read ghetto-speak.  I'm not sure where you're seeing fear.

FTA Headline: "If You Make a Death Threat With Emojis, It's Still Illegal"

I would think most rational people would react to a death threat with some degree of fear or emotion. Sorry for not falling in line with script with a snark about purple drank, etc. My point is the media loves to promote such articles to over sensationalize non-stories. This shiat happens thousands of time a day, every day, be it on Twitter, FB, Craigslist, and so on. Journalism has dropped so low that they have to create their own scarey stories for click bait, and what makes better fodder than pictures of gangstas flashing signs, wads of cash, and scary weapons. Then on the very same site, they will have an article about how unfairly Trayvon Martin was gunned down (he was in IMO). It reminds me of a cover of a Cosmo magazine where they will have one header "10 Ways to Keep Your Man" and directly underneath it have another header "How to Live Independent and Happy". Maybe, just maybe it is their formula to sell their junk tabloid magazines/websites. That was my point. When I think of something original & funny about purple drank, I will let you know.

Fast Moon: Is "emoji" some new term that's gaining traction?  I hadn't really seen it before but this is the second time today in two different stories I've seen the word come up.  It looks like a portmanteau of "emo" and the Japanese word "moji" (文字), for "character/letter", so does "emoji" only refer to the Japanese-style Unicode drawings like the one in the headline, or is it meant to replace all instances of the words "emote" or "emoticon"?

The band Blur used that word in their woo-hoo song (I got my head shaved - by a emoji)  and I always wondered WTF it meant, even tried to look it up.  Thank you submitter for my long-overdue enlightenment.

Emoji is used, particularly for the gun icon, as it is fancier than your standard text art/smiley face, and is usually developed by Japanese programmers.
Notice that in Gmail, in the pages of emoji/emoticons you can infuse your email with, there is no standard turkey for Thanksgiving, as that is a distinctly American holiday. The best you can get is some sort of drumstick/meat on bone combo.
The rest of the holidays that are fairly international in nature, get at least 2 icons to represent them.

I hope the Japanese text used translates as 'Peace Flower' or something else like that.

Well, I may well be - I've never seen the lyrics, but that is what I thought he says.  It's pretty much the first thing in the tune.

Yeah, that's what most sites I looked at had for the words.

Dead? I'm just getting started!
