Do hogs really have such good eyesight that you need to wear cammo while hunting them?

If you abandon your children to go hog hunting, you might be a redneck.

I'm shocked it got to 38 in that part of Florida, even with the polar yadayada...

So how was she supposed to know it was 38?  Also who the hell cares.. They were inside the car. Bet it was warmer than that in there.

When I was stationed in Jacksonville, some of my fellow Navy pukes went hog hunting at the local watering holes quite regularly

38f is called a January thaw here in the midwest. Not much harm due to the temp but leaving the kids to fend for themselves not at all good.

Here in my hometown last week a day care bus driver left / forgot a 2 year old disability chld on her bus for 3 hours when the temp was in the 24f - 26f range. No ill physical effects for the child excepting maybe some diaper rash.

fusillade762: Do hogs really have such good eyesight that you need to wear cammo while hunting them?

Yes.  It's their noses you have to worry about it.  Downwind and all that.

If they are like the hogs here in TX, hybrid of native/Russian boar, they will kill you and eat you given the chance.

It costs about $1200 for a helicopter ride to go shoot them.  Open season, all year long.

Yehaaww!!!

Oh no not 38 degrees!

Well, it's better than leaving the little tricycle motors in the car in the summer.  Just can't win with people these days.

I'm actually curious why she didn't just leave the kids at home.  Why bring them with you just to leave them in the car?

Oh yea, it's Florida.

fusillade762: Do hogs really have such good eyesight that you need to wear cammo while hunting them?

I'm not really sure.

I do know that it's not strictly necessary when hunting deer with a rifle because deer have fairly poor eyesight.   While they have better night vision, and can see into the ultraviolet, their visual acuity is actually about 20/200, and they are red/greeen colorblind.

Camouflage is absolutely essential when hunting, say, coyotes, wildfowl, or turkeys.  They all have excellent eyesight.

Since most people have a set of "hunting clothes" that basically do the duty for all their hunting, though, you end up wearing camouflage even when you don't strictly need it, so I can see wearing camouflage when hunting hogs, even if technically you don't need it.

Aren't those the boars that you need a 150 round clip, a Gadsden Flag and a CCW to kill?

"Freedom Boars" if you will.

You know you can get AR-15 uppers in calibers like .50 Beowulf, .458 SOCOM, and .450 Bushmaster, right?

Hogging used to mean something back in the day.

My dad used to hunt wild boar with a knife and a 1911. Surprisingly, he survived his encounters.

I mean, Florida. It could happen.
