/mules?

If you ever get a chance to win the favor of a good mule, you'll never want a horse again. Mules are fantastic. More loyal than a dog, smarter than most people, have vision/eyesight that allows them top see all flour hooves; consequently they're supremely sure-footed and if they think they're in danger there's no budging a mule .. which means you won't be in danger.

Fast, smart, strong and loyal. I love mules.

Meet John Henry

You couldn't be more right. I've had four mules during my lifetime. They'll follow you around like a good dog and damn sure let you know if something is wrong. I had an ol' girl bite me one time to keep me from walking into a snake den. I didn't realize it at the time what she was doing because as you said, she wouldn't move at all. I should've known something was wrong, but being me, I just thought she was being her old stubborn self. It wasn't until I took a few steps away from her and heard the first rattle, that I realized what she was doing. I was damn mad at her, I still have the scar on my shoulder, but I'm damn glad she was there. We went back and pulled 17 rattlers out from under that rock.

Maybe you can correct me on this one, since I've never owned either, but "that old girl" must have been a hinny, not a mule. There are no female mules. They are all sterile males, the offspring of horses and donkeys. If the offspring is female, it's called a hinny.

It's not a hinny, girl mules are called "Jennets".

Your mom's a suburb of Los Angeles.

Therefore, she sublets herself to hipsters and 'new tech' yuppies at outrageous rental payments.

Mule's been news here in California for years.

I was honestly surprised to see him FINALLY show up on Fark.
