Oma Cassie says "put the camera down and feed me!"

Oma Cassie is such a cutie! Is she getting along any better with Li-ion? Or should I say, is he behaving himself & getting along with her? I also forgot to mention that I LOVE your picture of Mountain & Castle!

I let him out to roam the main part of the house a few weeks ago, the weather was nice and I let Cassie and Tom out to play. Li-Ion was enjoying his free time when he suddenly jumped to the window and began pacing back and  forth on the sofa. He was lashing his stub tail and then he began to throw himself against the window. I hoped he was watching a bird on the porch rail. Then I saw Oma Cassie sitting up there looking at him. I think she was taunting him. I do not believe there will ever be a truce in this war.

No...just a different shell color.

I've had brown eggs since I was a kid. They do taste a little different, I notice the difference when I eat white eggs, which is probably why I don't get eggs if I go out for breakfast. According to my Dr. brown eggs are supposed to better for your cholesterol too. I don't know if that's really true.

I think that may be true of any egg that is "home grown" as opposed to store bought. We always had chickens when I was growing up, and the eggs were brown. The home chickens get fed better, and therefore the eggs may taste better. But, I have bought brown eggs at the store, and they taste just like the white ones from the store. I guess that's what I should have said.

It's not:  shell color is only indicative of the breed of chicken that laid it (there are blue and purple eggs too).  More important is the way the chicken is raised and fed itself.

I get brown eggs from a local farm and I think they taste better because they are fresher. Supermarket ones sit around for weeks. I have heard that there is no difference nutrionally.

i find that they ae drier than a white egg..more yolk, less white. I think they bind a bit better if you are using them to hold together veggie pancakes etc.. They can be an issue when you bake, unless you get ones that are sorted by size..we get the unsorted ones in our farmers CSA..

Jeez.  I had to do that yesterday.  Unfortunately.  Shame on me.

Now, this is where I have it not just good, but GREAT. After my Grandma died and mom was first rearranging the house, she turned Granda's room into an office/cat room. Mom hangs out in the "office" most of the time and Gogh's litterbox is in there. I go in to clean it, and it's always clean. I tell my mom "I don't think he likes the new litter box locale, because he's not using it." (I was assuming he was going outside since he has a huge back yard to enjoy desecrating at his leisure) and she says "he uses it every day, sometimes twice. what are you feeding him??" Apparently his poopies smell SO FOUL that she scoops the entire box the minute he's done in there. I have not had to clean the litter box in months. The small joys of multigenerational housing arrangements can be totally unexpected and totally awesome, huh?

Oh, and here, have a bunny. They can also be litter box trained, ya know. (or so I've heard)

Wow! That couldn't have worked out better if you had planned it that way! :D

I know! Before the Great Rearranging the litter box was upstairs, so I'd have to go up there, then trudge down the stairs carrying the little bag o' ick as Gogh tried to kill me by knocking me down the stairs (he never killed me, but he did send me tumbling down the stairs more than once) every other day, carrying the entire box every week or so to dump all the litter and wash it out so I could put clean stuff in there, then back up the stairs. Mom decided she wanted a room in the house that Gogh would feel comfortable in when we had guests, because he's a big ol' fluffy chickenshiat. A room she could sit in as well (she's more attached to him than she'll ever REALLY admit) and so he'd know he wasn't all alone. So his stuff got moved downstairs and now she shares office space with my cat. She even bought him a cat tree to sit next to her computer and they hang out in there and play games if he's not hanging out with me.

I think she stole my cat. She BETTER clean the box if she stole my cat! (I'm still his favorite, so THERE!)

I thought they had to access some of their poop for digestive purposes. Or am I thinking of some other fuzzy critter? It's been well over 20 years since I've needed to know ANY of that kind of stuff, so it fell outta my head. I'm just wondering how that works with the litter involved.

tigerose: bwahaha! My Mom's cat can clear a room..and she digs like she is trying to reach China...kinda nice she did not call on you to remedy the "steaming pile of dark matter" ( read that in Prf. Farnsworth's voice)

I'm rather surprised she did not as well, because if it's something wrong in the kitchen (even just starting the dishwasher), they'll wait hours for me to get home rather than anyone else in the house do it themselves. My best guess - Gogh is not permitted in the Super Secret Lair of Ultimate Doom because I am allergic to cat hair. He hangs out in here with me daily, but only closely supervised (when we're playing games or watching something and he's on my lap). So, because I don't want him rolling around on my pillows, I keep my door closed so he can't get in here. Because I am scary quiet, they never know if I'm just not here or maybe asleep. I'm guessing when it first happened she thought I was napping or gone and now she's just used to cleaning it herself instead of waiting to see if I stroll out of my Lair or stroll in the door. It was a combination of "where is she? do I dare bang on the door?" and desperation "The stenchening! *gag* THE STENCHENING!" *gasps for air*

Gogh doesn't dig for China, but he does helpfully create a zen litter garden outside the box. I've seen him brushing it about with his paw to get it Just So. No idea why, but it's kind of funny. Must be like kitty Feng Shui or something.

I'm trapped in my chair because Jack refuses to move.
I am stuck in the chair with Jack laying on the afghan on top of my feet. The best I can do is wiggle my toes and tell him to move. He just looks at me and puts his head down , which I guess means no.

She practically begged me to get her out of there.
Then she offered me bribe$.
$erious bribe$.

I told her that I couldn't take her today because they were predicting bad weather (true)
and that I have a doctor appointment Monday as a followup to my misadventures
that put me in the hospital over Thanksgiving (also true) and that I didn't want to take her home
in time for him to put me back in the hospital (not very likely) and have her stuck there by herself.

We'll see how it works out over time.
Thanks for asking.
