So, what do fat chicks who don't want to be fat anymore eat for breakfast? I'm gonna guess the breakfast chimichanga is out. Half a toasted double fiber English muffin with a poached egg and lightly robed with ranchero sauce and a pear on the side sounds reasonable, yes? *ponders*

What a cute pic!  :D

Thanks. How was work today? If you're as cool as the folks at my local True Value (Bucksport Maine) you're cool as hell!

I am too cool for school! Well, sort of. Work is....slow. Our lack of anything resembling our "normal" winter is causing my boss to stress a bit. Mild winter=no winter-related sales.

We have just the opposite here (I work at a home improvement store). Been sold out of heaters, firewood, everything for weeks, and the temperature keeps dipping into the single digits, not common here in Georgia.  People are looking at us like we're crazy because we're already putting out the patio furniture.

quantum_jellyroll: The kitty is doing OK. I brought him in last week when it was so unbearably cold.
However, he doesn't seem to like being inside. He paces, meows, jumps up on me then jumps down
and walks over to the door to look at me and meow. Darned if I can figure it out. If I had the choice between someplace warm, and someplace freezing, I'd choose warm and take a nap there. He's definitely a unique cat.

Odd, yes.  Squeek is an enigma that way, too - sometimes stays out for hours in nasty weather, other times hides indoors when the weather's nice.

As for mom...
Things aren't looking up.

So sorry to hear that, QJ.  It's a frustrating and sad thing to witness.

While my folks are still strong and fairly active, the in-laws are having a rough time of it. Not much we can do for them at this point but lend support to them...

And to each other.  {HUGS}

Ain't that the truth for most apartments with cats! Thankfully ours haven't ruined our blinds here. The upstairs neighbors blinds are practically demolished from their cats. Mine have just sneezed all over the window glass...

I stopped drinking coffee for awhile, and there are days where I really want a cup. But I have none in the house. So I'm trying how to remember how to make Turkish coffee, since that's the only canned/ground coffee I have. I think I may have actually gotten it right this time!

From today's newsrag, left at corner because lane's slick -- afterheadline from here yesterday --
A murder of crows, a bite of midges, a destruction of cats, a stampede of mourners.  Stampede of mourners in India the point, however.
1st from USA Weekend mag, Squirrel sits at desk on branch right next to tree, says to squirrel bit further out on limb, "I suppose, technically, all our officers are branch offices."
Garfield: Jon reads news, says, "Here's a crazy theory, Garfield; 'Cats may be invaders from another planet'. I don't think so. You're too lazy to make the trip, & you'd never escape gravity. Certainly not from the planet Fatso." Garfield, lurking & listening all this while, says "Where is my disintegrator ray gun when I need it?"
Middletons: Bulldog Bumper requests other dogs to line up to scratch his back, as Cone of Shame still attached. Next frame Morris M says "This is the day you've been waiting for, Bumper; we're taking the lampshade off!"  Removes, hollers "Yikes!" as Bumper's head appears missing. Peers in, asks "Bumper?" Next frame slurp slurp slurp! enthusiastic lapping. Last frame, nbr queries "What happened to you, Morris?" Morris has neck brace on, says "Threw my neck out."

No stink eye here, just a "let me the fark in" kinda glare.

i843.photobucket.com

This was Squeek yesterday.  She was inside overnight, while we got another couple inches of heavy, fluffy snow.  It's kinda pretty out there... big clumps of snow sluffing off the tree branches here and there...

She wanted to go out again this morning; been lurking under the utility trailer in the back yard, watching the snow continue to fall.  As soon as I unwrap from my nice, warm cocoon to go refill my coffee, I fully expect to see a view like the one above.

Yup.  There she is. ^..^

We shall have to meet up some weekend and hit all the thrift stores in the area, I'm addicted to them.
One of my finds from a couple years ago, found it today while looking for something to make fangs for a plushie krampus. I liked the somewhat steampunk style of it.

The Gogh Beastie got out last night while I was napping (probably courtesy of my adult son, who is supposed to know better than to let him out at night when the raccoons are ready to rumble), so I got the step up from the "let me the fark in" look. I got the pounding on the window hard enough to make it sound like he's going to break it until I tap the window back (my way of saying "I hear you, now knock it off, I'm on the way") and he decides to speed me up by switching to screen twanging. Claw goes into screen, I guess pulls the screen waaaaaaaaaay back and release! Repeat until door is opened. *twang* *twang* *twang* At 2 am, of course. I normally don't wake up until 3 am, but what's an hour early if Moo Kitty won't play nice with him and the scary raccoons are hiding under the magnolias waiting for some more kibble to hit the bowl? Jerks. Both my sons. The neckbeard and the full body fuzz one. Grrrr. I'm honestly surprised I have a screen left on that window at all at this point.

Ya know, that "diet" breakfast wasn't half bad. I guess it is possible to have a breakfast that doesn't involve croissants and Nutella or copious amounts of cheese. Whoda thunk it?

D'awwww! A widdle babby otter wit hiz breakiefast!

I cook zucchini all the time.  Usually sauteed in OO with a little sliced onion, garlic, S&P, oregano and/or basil with muenster or havarti melted on top.  Mister never had zucchini this way, never cared much for it, but now requests it frequently.

sherpa18: *stumbles into thread*

Oh, hai everbuddy! Sorry I have been AWOL, but my cable provider finally pulled the plug on my service (which I guess has something to do with my not paying them) - however - it appears that my new upstairs neighbor - who I already hate with the passion of a thousand suns, since he seems to wear size 18EEE lead lined Storm Trooper boots while aimlessly running laps above my head, and periodically dropping bowling balls (or some equivalent) all over the place has just installed a wireless router that a card I installed years ago on my main box recognized... no way I can catch up on the entire thread so I'll just leave this here (hey, better late than never..) I miss you guise :o(

My favorite way to fix zucchini is deep fried.
Slice into sticks ,coated with egg and bread crumbs.
with ranch dressing mixed with horseradish for dipping.

Well, I have 1 good thing to report. Landlord came home today!!! He didn't tell me in advance, so it was a surprise! He is still sortof weak and tired, but he looks pretty good, and is VERY happy to be home. I'm sure he will sleep well in his own bed tonight!

That IS good news.  I'm sure he's apt to be in for a long recovery, but that's the right direction.  Give him our best.
