WTF?

So... hey, sorry. y'all, we filled them up at the treatment plant we were replacing with trucked in water.  But we didn't know.

I would think that the drivers would receive instructions where to go to get fill-ups... no one looked at that list and checked to see that it didn't include the damn treatment plant they were supposed to be replacing???

I think the decades of inbreeding is probably worse for West Virginians than drinking a little bit of sewer water.

FTFA: "We received complaint calls about an odor when people went to use the bulk containers," Sayre said.

She said the county has conflicting information on where the tankers were filled and that only when county officials called the water company were they told that some might have been filled at the Charleston water treatment plant.

"We were not aware they were being filled at the treatment plant," Sayre said. "We were told they were being filled at another system that was not involved in this water situation.

Easy mistake to make in WV.  All the water treatment plants are named the Robert C. Byrd Treatment Plant, and they're all located on Robert C. Byrd Parkway.  It's easy to get confused.

Yeah, but when you're part of a project to ship safe water to a region, it's pretty much implied that you have to get the water from outside that region.  Otherwise you wouldn't need to ship it in the first place.

I don't think he was even trying to bring up anything untoward about Byrd's past... there really is a lot of shiat named after him in West Virginia.

It has been said before, but imagine the right wing hysteria if  Mooslims had been responsible, not a bunch of good ole boys?  It's Obama's fault for not inspecting the plantThis is what happens when you cut the inspection budget.

Yes, you are correct. there are lots of civil buildings and structures named after a well-known Clansman in WV.

What that's what they get for accepting a hand out.

Besides, if you're going to rail against "big government" and that meddlin' EPA, and allow the plant to be built right upstream from your water treatment centers, then you should have to drink it.  It's called "personal responsibility."  They're really big into that in WV I hear.

Some one please explain to us all again why enforced and enforceable regulatory oversight is a bad thing. Y'know, about how putting people before profits only hurts the economy. And how starving or otherwise obstructing the government from achieving its legislative mandate to ensure the environment is not polluted is an honorable goal, because otherwise jobs wouldn't be created.

C'mon, I know you're out there, corporatist privateers. Stick up for your practices, and defend the political offices you purchase. Let's hear from you. Tell us mistakes were made. Tell us how much you've learned from this. Placate us. Tell us why we should not sharpen the pitchforks and start dousing the torches in your wondrously flammable products.

Hel-loooooo........anybody?

Didn't think so.

When you have a state that sees environmental protection as a existential threat, the caution around toxic things may suffer.   It is a group delusion that ends up having repercussions.
