Donnelly also attacks California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) on his lead ammunition ban as a "cowardly act" that is the "first step to banning hunting in our state." Alonso cuts him off then and argues, in Spanish, that animals suffer because of hunting.

Donnelly just looks puzzled in response.

Ha ha ha. He can't even get the message right in his own campaign video.

I arrived earlier, with less than $300 in my pocket, and lived the "California Dream" until the term lost any meaning it might have had to begin with. Now I'm out, and I don't have a plastic has-been and an anybody's has-dog nipping at my heels while I wear a stupid f*cking hat to legitimize my cartoonishly simplistic perceptions of the state I live in.  Maybe I should run for Governor instead.

Without cheating and using IMDB, the only thing I remember is the show "Kingpin" on NBC back in 2002.

Republican Corporatists have been so slave to their masters of deregulating big business and giving tax breaks to corporate welfare and millionaires that small business and the middle class have been on all but life support. But keep on working on lowering taxes and de-regulating the rich, because Rush Limbaugh and Real Rich Americans will laugh all the way to the bank at you while the middle class and small business withers.

When I heard he was gonna run for Mayor of Oakland, I thought my how far he has fallen after his presidential bid, but damn he was the best mayor Oakland had i a long time and people started to move back across the Bay and Jack London Square became a thing.

When I heard he was going to run for attorney general, I thought, "dude, give it up you are going to be Govenor again" but he turned out to be not half bad.

When he ran for his third term, I was like "go for it, you couldn't be worse than the last few who tried."

Now I'm like, I wish you could run again! Hell You would make a great president, sorry about 1992.

California had a very simple solution for its economic woes, rely on a combination of income from people cashing out on capital gains, having the Fed support the housing market through QE, and not paying for things like pension funding.

If only every other state would follow this simple recipe we'll all do well.

2014-01-16 06:41:44 PM
First off, Jerry Brown is going to easily win re-election, so the state Republican Party isn't mounting a serious effort.  This is clown politics.

Secondly, this isn't even close to the worst political ad in California in the past five years.  Carly Fiorina's Demon Sheep ad set the bar astronomically high.  Topping it would require a re-enaction of Jesus's passion, with Jerry Brown in the role of Pontius Pilate and Jesus as a middle-class taxpayer, concluding with the disappearance of taxpayer Jesus from his tomb and an angel announcing that he'd fled to North Dakota.

Uhm, no. Please come back when you actually figure out what happened here for the last couple of years with the budget and budget fights which were mostly between the Assemble Dems and Brown, since the Republicans out here are dead weight.

You can look at the new budget where both the Dems and the Reps are like "meh, doesn't go far enough!" which tells you it went the perfect distance.

Serious he is about the best politician I have seen. He practically lives at the legislature talking to people all the time to get his legislation passed.

And when he couldn't get it the tax increase passed through the legislature he went to a ballot initiative and got it passed. He really is relentless but also not an asshole. Also a TRUE fiscal conservative.

That's his plan! North Dakota has a labor shortage because it's a sucky place to live, and he's going to make California a sucky place to live. It's brilliant!

That said, we should take Jesse Ventura out and string him up for giving credence to the idea that any dingbat in a funny hat can run a state. First him, then Schwartzenegger... leave it to the politicians for chrissake. They're at least trying to maintain the appearance of competence rather than imply maneuvering for a role in the next "Expendables" movie after they're out of office.

Well, we do have that "open primary" thing now.

Maybe we can be REAL lucky and there'll be a bunch of crazy people like this splitting the Republican base, and end up with two Democrats for the final ballot.

But seriously, this guy is a winner.

"On January 4, 2012, Donnelly had a loaded Colt handgun while attempting to board an airplane. TSA security screeners discovered the gun in his carry-on luggage.

According to the Sacramento Bee, 'Donnelly said only that he felt enough information about the concealed weapons permit issue had been released or published already. Asked if that meant that he did not have such a permit, Donnelly deflected the question.' Further, the Sacramento Bee cites that '...both Sacramento's police and sheriff's departments said Thursday that they have not issued [Tim Donnelly] a concealed weapons permit [and] Assembly officials said they have not issued Donnelly a permit to carry a gun in the Capitol.'

Donnelly agreed to a plea bargain, one count of carrying a loaded firearm into a city without a concealed weapons permit, and one count of possession of a prohibited item in a sterile area, and was sentenced to three years of probation, a $2,215 fine, and Donnelly is prohibited from using, owning or possessing any firearm that is not registered to him."

At any rate, to answer the original question, he's the only Republican who has officially declared as of yet.

What a raging dumbass.  If he had even the slightest knowledge of the laws surrounding firearms transport he'd know that they go in *checked* luggage.  And having it loaded in the carry-on on top of that is simply retarded.

But a miracle had occurred in that incident:  the TSA actually found something!  May wonders never cease.
