I didn't feel very strongly about it one way or the other. In some senses, that's a vast improvement from the burning hatred I felt for your last video venture. On the other hand, this has far less potential for indirect humor.

2014-01-16 02:25:07 PM
Well, Mike's no bloated corpse of Shelley Winters, but at least it's better than previous efforts at Fark based television. Worth at least a second viewing.

2014-01-16 02:26:09 PM

technoblogical: second viewing.

Which is easily done since the thing is on a loop

Fark TV ruined web tv for me

That was like wathing your father slowly die of rectal cancer.... and I mean it in a good way.

Needs wacky sound affects and seizure inducing flashing lights.

This is a bookmark for when I get home and can actually use the intertubes for viewing videos.

maybe follow the NAKED NEWS format?

It's not Fark tv, so there's that...

only if it is this dude:

LeroyBourne: Three Crooked Squirrels: Is this basically just a commercial for FARK?  If not, it just looks like a commercial for FARK.  If so, who is going to see it?

That's what I felt too.  What's next?  A live reenactment of that poor SOB Farker that got his balls stuck in the chair.

Well...I *am* starting to get a case of Old Man Balls (tm)...maybe I can audition for the role.

/lots of material down there

oh and another thought, I might stop after this, maybe tie in the taglines below the Fark logo in these as well.

FarkTV; Like a penis, only smaller.

those are pretty funny actually.

I couldn't get to which tracker thing do I turn off the get the video.

So I have no opinion.

I don't have a timer bar on the video, but it felt about 2 minutes too long.

Script needs a severe trim: the whole friggin square root thing? Boring. The chick? Ok to look at, and I liked what I thought was a subtle dig at her being a slut ("she's the smartest person in the world"). But without lines or some meaningful interaction with the host, she's just a prop.

The script beat the same obvious joke (married people don't have sex) out three different ways: Mike being married, the single girl who is smart, and one of the comments. Cut the fat out of the script. Hit big with one joke and move on:

Hi, I'm Mike and this is what's up this week on Fark.
There's a story that sex makes you smarter.
I wouldn't know much about that. Or anything. I'm married.
Here's what farkers had to say about it:

I'm Mike, see you next time with more headlines from Fark.

That's it. Quick, clean, and out.

I despise videos which are basically "I saw this on the internet". They rarely give any added value over just providing a link and are usually diluted by the presenters padding it out with their "personalities". Maybe they are good if you are too drunk to click links and read.

Maybe such things would be more interesting if they collected a whole bunch of related links and synthesized them into coherent whole, as long as the presenter/content ratio was kept low.

I thought it was too slow.  I would have closed it in the first 20 seconds if I wasn't trying to evaluate it for you.  To much "blah blah" about who you are, logo time, etc.  It felt like 2min doing what I could do on fark.com in 30 seconds.  The user comments were the best part.

I'll get over it.

As was mentioned above, I realize your intended audience suffers from ADD, but the quick editing doesn't make the semi-lame jokes any funnier.

I liked it.

Showing the top funny comments was great. Sometimes, when a thread has too many comments, it can be tough to find the best ones.

Maybe you should invent, like, a button or something.

That sounds a lot like this fark video project.

2014-01-16 02:42:38 PM
Damn, I never realiized Hardwick and Phirman were basically identical twins

2014-01-16 02:45:36 PM
It was a bit spastic.  I haven't felt that quick-cut-sick since watching Moulin Rouge.

If time is the issue, edit it down to the quality content.  It felt kind of like the guy that is giving his first school presentation, freaks out and does his 10 minute bit in one.  A little less auctioneer maybe.

It's probably because I sound like Eeyore on methadone but that pacing makes me a little nervous.

2014-01-16 02:50:05 PM
On a previous video discussion, I had recommended a crawl of some of the week's funniest headlines, although I concede that it would be distracting if you're trying to keep the format quick and crisp like this one.

2014-01-16 02:50:34 PM
Better than Fark TV. Several actual Laugh OL moments

When quoting top comments, it might help to actually show the username as he says it. Him having to say something like ""that's really his name" for the last one doesn't bode well for weirder handles, and the possibilty for confusion abounds with handles that are similar to each other. Ctrl-Alt-Del and CtrlAltDelete, for example

The only big negative for me was that there was just way too much shiat constantly zooming into and out of the frame. if you absolutely must put that many different things into the mix, perhaps occasionaly use some other kind of less obtrusive cut?

The writing was OK, the delivery was pretty damned good, and the girl was cute.

2014-01-16 02:53:25 PM
It felt rushed, and yet at the same time sparse.  Not enough content for the time spent, but the delivery felt like they were trying to pack in material that never materialized.

Too upbeat.  Fark is the snarky bitter corner of the Internet.  We hate everything but Jennifer Lawrence, caturday, and beer.  This felt very "pop culture news", and it should probably be darker and meaner.  Think more like Louis C.K., less Ryan Seacrest.

2014-01-16 02:54:09 PM
Not bad but not a big fan of autoplay videos

2014-01-16 02:55:15 PM
We need episodes for the DoZ thread and the office ceiling porn incident.

Nope, just new this week, we hate Jennifer Lawrence. The only things I have found that the internet likes is bacon and Firefly.

Wasn`t bad, wasn`t good. He talked fast and said nothing, I`d rather it was the other way around.

I was reminded of this.

Also try not to have self denigrating males, especially if they are going to be so chipper.

2014-01-16 02:57:23 PM
I'd say it reaches close to the levels of entertainment and hilarity that we had with FarkTV

2014-01-16 02:57:48 PM
I don`t know how the second half went because I turned it off to be honest.

2014-01-16 02:58:10 PM
That was better than FarkTV but it was still really bad.

Please no more.

2014-01-16 02:58:22 PM
The white flash when you reposition Mike is really, really annoying.  And the chick added nothing.

Topic good.  And we finally have a reason to vote on comments!

I started out in this vein when I saw the presenter guy, and I was all like "if you want the face of Fark, you should probably have gotten a neckbearded dude with some suspenders and gravy stains", but then I realized that Drew is probably trying to get people to actually visit this den of misanthropes, bastards and reprobates.

It's like relationships. You don't show someone that you're a mean-spirited asshole until they're stuck with you.

It wouldn't harm if the design of the WTFark logo was closer to the Fark logo.

bah.. I just watched it a second time and now I think the pacing is fine/quick enough and have reformed my opinion...

The issue may be that any show takes time to develop into a groove. The first Seinfeld episode, and the whole first season, was considered awkward, slow and not promising.. yet eventually became the number one show  (I know it's a different format, but point stands.)

It may be difficult to make this happen right away, no matter what you can bring to it now...
