that'll fudge the numbers.

What? Billions in Homeland Security grants and handing out tanks to the Sheriff of Podunk County didn't bring the grade up at least a little?

GOP plan:

1. Avoid paying taxes which pays for modern infrastructure and services.
2. Cut back on infrastructure maintenance and services funding.
3. Infrastructure and services degrade and fail.
4. Complain because government doesn't work and the Kenyan has to go.
5. Profit....always profit.

No your not. It's got FARK ALL to do with GOP/Democrats. You are intentionally trying to be a nitwhit.

How bout not mishandling the farking money you already get and THEN we'll give more if more is needed.

Me thinks one report is a little biased by the "Medical Liability Environment" information. I wonder if the top ranked states for that statistic have "tort reform" laws in place?

2014-01-16 03:01:25 PM
Don't worry guys, we got a D+ on our Infrastructure report card last year.  USA USA USA!

WTFDYW: No your not. It's got FARK ALL to do with GOP/Democrats.

No, it really does. The vast majority of what is wrong with ERs in the United States is due to all of the various issues connected to our medical insurance system, and the GOP has attempted to shut down all meaningful reform of this type. It is absolutely their fault, with the medical systems of the rest of the first world as evidence.

2014-01-16 03:08:46 PM
Uh, yeah... so the average was a D+ and all these states here got a - what do you mean what's the methodology... no, no one got an A or a B... but... what do you mean "bell curve"... look can we just say this is an emergency and tax money needs to be poured into this problem?

2014-01-16 03:09:34 PM
I scored it a 137.25.  Did anyone else get that?

Emergency preparedness is socialism. Let everyone buy their own firefighting equipment if they want to let their house catch on fire.

So, if you look at the details of the metrics they are using, many of them are not exactly inspired. In particular they seem to be going with the strategy that more doctors, more facilities and hospitals all equals better emergency care.

Why do douches continue to equate emergency services, which may or may not be privatized, with socialism?

Why not also say we have to have our own auto repair shop to repair our car.   It can possibly be that a central point may better provide a service more efficiently.

Buy your bread from the store?  You didn't bake that!  Socialism!

Not surprising. The thing about emergency planning? It's a cost that does not ever show a return on investment, if you are lucky. Demand a profitable reward when the occasion comes up that your hard work was justified? You're a monster trying to profit from a tragedy.

Some local politicos tried to hold a symposium on the subject. At least one a-hole commented on its Facebook invite page about how boring the subject was, and how it would be MUCH better if we invested in talking about entrepreneurs in high tech and tourism.

Judging from this report, he got his way...

And this is a state mostly run by Dems.

Combined Federal. State and Local governments will take in approx  $5.9 TRILLION in revenue for FY2014 and spend est. $6.5 TRILLION but the Democrats argument is that they need more of our money?

You mean to tell us that when Federal Emergency Agencies are administered by someone whose only experience is setting up midnight basketball games and doing "a little blow", they start to fail?

Who could have predicted such a situation?

Oh and about that:

US drops from top 10 economic freedom ranking

After seven years of continuous decline in the rating, the US has gone down to 12th place in the 2014 Index of Economic Freedom. The report says the US is the only country to show such a prolonged decline.

The falling ranking was primarily caused by large reductions in property rights, freedom from corruption, and increasing government spending, says the study.

Since President Obama first took office in 2009 the cost of meeting federal government regulations has increased by over $60 billion. Government spending is now over 40 percent of gross domestic product and the national debt has now ballooned to over 100 percent the size of the economy. Still the Obama administration continues to restrain entire sectors of the economy with regulation, including, finance, energy and health care.

So, I am a member of ACEP.  They're non-partisan, but also have a very political wing as well.  One can imagine that they have a bias in how they rank/grade each state.  They have a primary goal of improving access and improving delivery of care.

They stand up for ED docs and they push for reforms that will help the ED.  They are staunchly in favor of anything that improves the ED for patients and providers, and generally oppose anything else.

There is no such thing as non-partisan and very political.  That you have an agenda makes you partisan.

Just don't become like government employee unions. Teachers' unions for example:   They do not exist to benefit tax payers , schools,  parents or students but for the benefit of their members.  Sadly , more often than not, those are at cross purposes
