"Rebooting" the Grinch?

Is Boris Karloff narrating? No?

Then no, thank you.

fun fact: Boris Karloff wasn't originally interested in doing the special. Geisel gave Karloff a copy of the book, and Karloff read it to his daughter, Sara. She loved it so much that she asked him to read it to her again the following night. The next morning, Karloff called Geisel and Chuck Jones, the director, and said he'd changed his mind.

I saw this bit about the Grinch earlier, and I almost wrote another FB post in my continuing series of really bad Hollywood remake ideas. I wasn't happy, but then I ate a Ba Na Na

You could get Christopher Lee to do it.  If you hurry.  Or start recording it now.

The animated TV sequel, Halloween is Grinch Night, often gets overlooked. It has Hans Conried voicing the Grinch, and features a trippy sequence where one of the young Whos confronts the Grinch and ends up transported to a frightening imaginary world, a world with the Seusness turned up to 11. (I guess Grinch dropped a hit of acid on the kid.) It. Is. Awesome. The rest of the special is kind of meh.

A newly imagined version of the enduring holiday classic

So which "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" is being rebooted?  The original animated special, the live action movie, or the musical?

MORE MINIONS!

2014-01-16 08:03:04 AM
Four years later, so let's see...

Lucy will have put on about 30 pounds and look like a tall red-haired minion.
Margo will be some emo/goth/whatever, trying to get high from household chemicals (could actually be an interesting plot point in Gru's house)
Edith will be "experimenting" with other girls in the locker room
Agnes will turn completely introverted but discover her inner genius, which she will try out in Gru's lab, ... and experimenting on her oldest sister, starting her on the path to being the evil villain in Despicable Me 4

Despicable Me 2 wasn't nearly as good as the first one.

Keywork99: Despicable Me 2 wasn't nearly as good as the first one.

No, it was not. Like most sequels, especially in that genre, it was a money-grab. It wasn't awful, but it seemed pointless. Then again, I'm 41. My 8 and 10 year-olds loved it, so what do I know?

Have to disagree, if anything I laughed more during the sequel. That said, 2017 is a long wait, and sets a higher bar. I have to agree, I think it's time for a TV cartoon, starring the Minions, if for no other reason than to support merchandising until the next feature.

That, and who doesn't want more Minions?

It stops with an empty Kleenex box, and a lot of chafing.

I thought there was a minions movie coming out this year during Christmas? I love all that shiat, but they're going to go the way of shrek. At least the minions movie seemed logical as that's the funniest/most profitable part of the film.

It could be a fun challenge for the writers. An entire series with all the dialogue in Minion Gibberish.

I prefer the idea that Gru and Nefario created the minions in the lab, but whatever, as long as it's funny.

My son looks for anything minion on YouTube. He found a group of Asian girls singing the banana song, in minion.

Plus the added trivia that Boris could not sing a note to save his life, so the music was instead sung by Thurl Ravenscroft (more well known as the voice of Tony the Tiger).

More from Wikipedia on the Minion movie:

"After their ineptitude destroys all their masters, including a T-Rex and Dracula, they decide to isolate themselves...in Antarctica...

Um...no.  How about no.  They're goofy, yes, and somewhat inept *at times* leading to hilarious comedy bits, but not to the extent they manage to kill off, financially ruin, whatever (what exactly does "destroy" mean here?) their masters.  Come on...they have their bad moments, but they have a lot more successes than failures.  I'd be hard pressed to believe they could manage to act so ineptly it would lead to the destruction of one master, much less a string of them leading to a decision to remove themselves to Antarctica.

I prefer the "created in a lab" by Gru and Nefario theory too.  Although I'll admit, seeing Minions interacting with various historical bad guys does have comedy potential. But couldn't it be more along the lines of the villains managing to destroy themselves, which of course means the Minions are then out of a job and have to find the next big baddie to come along?

Hopefully just marketing hype, put out to be misleading this early in production.
