Do the police and doctors/nurses involved still have jobs? If so, then it's not good enough.

Yeah, hosing the taxpayers for this kind of shiat just isn't cutting it. Clearly it's no deterrent. Time for some personal responsibility.

By which I mean jail time.

Somaticasual: While i agree with the sentiment, 1.6 million for a 'finger intrustion' still isn't warranted when someone getting run over and killed by a drunk driver gets 1.75.. One of these things is scarring, but it's just not in the same league as losing a friend or family member.

Fourteen hours of torture that includes two forcible digital penetrations, three enemas, and a forced sedation and colonoscopy on an expired warrant that wasn't ever valid in the county in which the assault took place.

What they did to this man should have landed the lot of them in prison.

But some cops would get disappeared.

Yeah, I know. Dig the holes first.
You think this is my first rodeo in the desert?

A lawsuit against doctors and the hospital in the case is still ongoing.

You only use "an" if phonetically the would begins with a vowel sound.

It's an acronym, pronounced "oofya!" The exclamation point is required.

See, I never would have thought to pronounce it that way.

It's spelled "UFIA", but its pronounced "Throat Warbler Mangrove"

Here's the difference - [. . . blah blah blah rich defendant]

I'd say the bigger difference is that your hypothetical drunk driver killed the loved one accidentally. A motorist who killed somebody on purpose would be a bigger deal. Nobody is claiming that these cops raped the guy by accident.

m00: Yeah, I was just cooking up a scheme to drive/walk around New Mexico donut shops with a clenched butt. Like I do a funny walk with my hands on my butt and if cops are like "are you okay?" I act suspicious (which tbh isn't hard around a cop). Then later I could claim I had a back spasm and that was the only comfortable way of walking.

Claim that you were holding in a vicious fart to be polite, and then look what happened.

jst3p: Somaticasual: Anyone else find it revolting that the payout for this is roughly the same as a wrongful death settlement?
I don't know, what he went though was a real pain in the ass.

I probably shouldn't even go there, but it's really kind of like rape.  It is rape.

Has anybody at the local comptroller's office done the math?
Money lost in lawsuits for frivolous searches vs money gained from confiscated property and gov't anti-drug grants & bonuses?
Do they still think it's worth it?

Well, to correct subby, it's probably more like 800k-900k.  The best gig is to be the lawyer of a poor schmuck who got UFIAd and collect about 700k while maintaining rectal integrity.

At least one other victim came forward, too. Probably there have been others. Hopefully that county will have to give its residents a noticeable property tax hike to pay, as then things might change.

The doctors are farked. They'll be professionally ruined for their part in this, and deservedly so. A Sheriff can try to wave away his officers' misconduct like a good ol' boy, but medical ethics boards have low tolerance for shenanigans.

IIRC, the hospital has already hung its doctors out to dry, not that doing so will protect the hospital from lawsuits.

THIS.

The doctors involved need to lose their licenses, and the cops involved need to be charged...

Bullshiat.  The officer just said the dog detected something.

How the hell does anyone look like they are "clenching their buttocks" anyway?
