Gunny Highway: Nabb1: NSA domestic spying originally started back in the mid-1990's under Clinton. Then it got expanded with both incarnations of the Patriot Act, the second of which Obama voted on. When it comes to this stuff, yes, both sides have been fairly bad about respecting the rights of citizens in the name of security.

Isnt this a case of the NSA/intelligence community guys saying, "do you want to have a terrorist attack on US soil and not do everything you can to stop it" and politicians getting bullied into going along with policy?

/gross over simplification I know

And when that fails there's always the "hey this girl you're having sex with in these pictures looks nothing like your wife" angle.

Well, they tried moving Gitmo detainees to the U.S. to stand trial, and the birthbaggers started pissing their pants, claiming Supermax prisons weren't strong enough to detain those unholy killing machines.

Is this the thread (one of many) where Potato-Americans come in and claim that liberals are being unfairly sympathetic to Obama despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary?

I'm glad we finally put a Democrat in charge, so we could start openly critiquing the office of the President and expect some reasonable changes again.  It's hard living under a Republican administration, when they absorb every power they can through any means legal or otherwise, and you are branded a "terrorist sympathizer" if you speak out against it.

And now, in a few days, expect the spin machine to begin again. "OBAMA WANTS TO OPEN COUNTRY UP TO TERRORIST ATTACKS AND CHINESE RUSSIAN INVASIONS BY CRIPPLING NSA! THAT AND MORE AFTER OUR SPONSORS MESSAGES!"
