Legs?!?! That's a plus

Highschool?! Major negative

Sorry but this thread is just wrong

Well, that was a pointless waste of resources. Yes, lets encourage education and learning by showing you something that has absolutely no educational value generally speaking. Do you want to encourage children to stick to learning and all that? Give them adults to look up to, a Neil Armstrong or Carl Sagan and encourage them to do something they enjoy with their lives. Granted, that's a bit harder to do right than a pep rally.

Also, I couldn't of been the only one who enjoyed pep-rally's for the sake of not being in class.

TIL you can couple just about any adjective with "cheerleader" in a GIS with safesearch off and get a LOT of NSFW images.

Guess I know what I'll be doing later.

Silly. Do what we do: expel low-performing students, shuffle some schedules, and voila! Graduation rates go right up!

FTFA: After watching the assembly Tuesday, Westbrook Elementary kindergartner Jaxon Perry wasn't scared of high school. He told his mom he now wants to play the clarinet when he gets to Taylorsville High.

Jaxon's mom, Emily Perry, said she's still hoping he'll play football, but, "I'll go with anything as long as he graduates."

Ever since I found out how little cheerleaders are paid I cannot enjoy them.

Strippers are much more respectable.

If you go more nsfw than standard cheerleaders, is it really a cheerleader anymore or is it just a topless chick in a skirt, or bottomless chick with a top that matches school colors?

Seems rather pointless to soecify cheerleaders when searching out nudity :)

"Cheer squad and other athletes..."

Stop right there. Cheerleaders aren't athletes. My university told me so, since cheerleaders had their own fee which was separately collected from the athletics fee.

Armstrong and Sagan are both dead, and I don't think kindergartners would care about them any more than I would have cared about Chester A. Arthur.

Schools should not be this involved in sports.

And who knew American society is hypocritical?   The same cheerleaders would each be called precious little children if a teacher stupidly touched them, but they're not so child-like for events like in the article.

It might be tough to get Armstrong or Sagan, being dead and all, but you would be surprised how easy it is to get a real LIVE astronaut to visit an elementary school. A friend of mine got a former commander of the ISS to visit her school last year, and has another lined up for later this year. That seems like a much better way to get kids interested in staying in school.

It's so great that carter's federalization of the nation's education system has been such a smashing success.

Can't wait till other federalized bits of society come online. I'm sure they'll be equally successful.

We had a local school that decided to hold a rally for the TAKS testing years back, and invited the SWAT Team... the SWAT team predictably arrives fully decked in tactical gear, and decide to point their guns at the kids.

So, they wanted to encourage graduation by showing them a bunch of BDFJs? Oh yea, that is going to surely ramp up interest in learning...

/the boy says he wants to learn clarinet... the mom says she wants him to play football... and people wonder why our educational system is steadily declining compared to the rest of the world.

Bizarre.  It should not be necessary to "push" high school graduation.  That is just a given.  I already ask my kids (6 and 8) what they would like to study in grad school.  I don't know anyone that didn't graduate high school.

Sports were the least interesting part of high school though. You know what would really get those kids motivated? Letting them know that after four years, they're done with this version of the rat race forever. Eyes on the prize, not on the distractions along the way.
