Why is this sad? I mean sure the species may be driven to extinction by humanity after we've discovered that it wasn't really extinct but at least it isn't extinct yet (Maybe).

The Coelacanth was (re)discovered similarly, among fish being brought to market. Mammals have been (re)discovered in meat markets in Southeast Asia.

So basically it's a species no one really thought to look for until recently. Sounds like it's pretty plentiful around Yemen and Oman, just poorly documented.

we run into new species all the time THAT WE HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE.  Its hard to tell where everything is hanging out.
