I think they meant "Masonic"...a reference to the internet rumor that Kerry is a mason.  He's not.  he's actually a "Bonesman".

What should have been said: "Secretary of State John Kerry - who has come to us determined and is acting out of an incomprehensible obsession and a messianic feeling - cannot teach me a single thing about the conflict with the Palestinians. The only one who could ever teach me was the son of a preacher man. The only one who could ever reach me was the son of a preacher man." the biggest-selling daily Yedioth Ahronoth quoted Yaalon as saying behind closed doors.

Well...I'll grant you that he should have beaten Bush but I don't think it's quite a simple as 'Kerry is teh loozer.'

There's the John Edwards factor (hurl) and the changing presidents in wartime factor.  Even if the wars (or one in particular) were unpopular, the wounds were still fresh and people aren't generally inclined to change leadership during a war.

Netanyahu being arrogant and ungrateful is just a fact. Israel's leadership thinks the US should give them whatever they want, back them on everything, without ever having an opinion of our own. And the religious right in this country is happy to let them lead us around by the nose. Somehow though, whenever the left mentions the interests of say, Europe, they get called unpatriotic for even thinking about putting anyone ahead of the US.

Give us what we want, or we'll starting nuking and stuff. Sounds awfully similar to the demands of a terrorist organization.

The US seems to think it can walk into the Middle East and "solve" deep rivalries that have existed for hundreds, even thousands, of years. No. We can't. They hate each other. They will hate each other long after the current administration fades from memory. Even the Muslims hate themselves. The best we can do is keep the fighting over there and hope their hatred for their neighbor is greater than their hatred of us.

Ah, I see. The U.S. read the religions definition of Messianic and got pissy.

Political definition is: of or relating to any popular leader promising deliverance or an ideal era of peace and prosperity

Dear Israel,

You're right, our obsession with peace is indeed over the top.  If you don't want peace, fine, we're tired of constantly backing you in this stupid argument.  You've got a year to make peace, after which we're leaving you to your own affairs.

Hugs,

Because as long as they threaten to disturb the peace )even if they never truly intend to), the US is pretty much their lap dog.

Just because a guy walks on water doesn't mean he is wishy-washy.

Or something. Maybe that only applies to Obama.

I don't know what they mean by Messianic unless they are referring to the American conviction that they're on a mission from God, in which case, it is only American exceptionalism, Puritan and Liberal Democratic style. Conservatives and Republicans are so convinced that God is an American, it almost goes without saying that they will be Messianic, provided Israel approves.

The following nations may properly be described as Messianic:

The USA
The UK
France (First Empire, Fifth Republic)
Nazi and Imperial Germany
Russia (Czarist and Communist)
Spain (before about 1800)
Netherlands (before 1700 or so)
Israel
Imperial Japan
Imperial and Communist China
Rome
Fascist Italy
Islam (particularly under some of the stronger Sultans, Mullahs, and Shahs)

A plague on all their houses. (Let me know if I missed anybody. A plague on them, too.)

The Jews simply will not accept being obliterated AGAIN. It boggles my mind the amount of hatred directed at the most productive and creative people on the planet. I would not be the least bit surprised that they hid big ass nukes in their embassies world wide and can take out national capitals with a push of a button. Wouldn't put it past the Russians, Chinese, etc. to have done the same thing.
