For example, they like to use anti-evolution arguments that even other ID-believers have long abandoned.

Actually, from that graph it looks like we were on the way to fixing that inequality in the latter half of 2008 (the blue line bends down), when SOMETHING that occurred right around the start of 2009 reverses the trend.

GDP dropped in late 2008 because the economy was crashing... but MHI was also dropping still, and Median Net Worth was doing even worse... what happened was the economy got back on track, and continued to fark over everyone who wasn't at the very very top of it. A rising tide only lifts all boats if you're rich enough to have a boat... otherwise you just drown. That's the problem with the Reaganomics thinking that persists to this day.

You know, we joke about it a lot, but if you're arguing with a paleoconservative about Obama's policies, and you can keep the argument going for long enough, it really, really doesn't take long for their racism to show. Maybe fifteen, twenty minutes if you can keep it up. Sooner or later, they'll use a dogwhistle; all you have to do is pretend you don't know what the dogwhistle refers to, and they will go purple trying to explain it to you without using overtly racist language. It's hilarious.

They're right, you know... My stepson works at Texas Roadhouse(His first job) as a food runner. In 2007, ALL employees were making CEO-level pay, regardless of their position. Everyone there was bringing home 8 figures, and then Obama got elected... Now, he makes less than minimum wage + tips... If he had just turned 18 a couple of years earlier,m he could have had a couple of million in the bank for these dark days under History's Greatest Monster.

I hate the way that aphorism is used to refer to Reaganomics -- Reagan basically raised the bigger, fancier boats at the expense of the dinghies and rowboats.  I could make the same argument that a downward redistribution scheme like guaranteed basic income (you could even call it "trickle down"!) raises aggregate demand and therefore should be good for the whole economy, and thus "raises all boats", and so rich people should be for it.

The aphorism is used to refer to Reaganomics because he used it on multiple occasions.

You certainly could make that argument. As for me, I think that pretty much everyone who works 40 hours a week or more should be guaranteed to make at least 20k a year. I think that the current minimum wage (one that allows for wages so low as to qualify for public assistance when working full time) effectively means that taxpayers are picking up the cost of minimum wage workers, distorting the costs of inputs, and subsequently distorting the price of products via information asymmetry. Welfare for employees is, more accurately put, welfare for employers.
