Adding him and killing off everyone else but Coulson and May would be a start. I really WANT to like AoS. But I guess bland pablum is just what you get in a show designed by committee.

/still think it would have been cool if Coulson had dumped his water glass into the brain scanner thingy

Why don't you put her (or him) in charge?

So true.

And also, I know they put down a significant chunk of money on the damn plane set and filming on location costs, but it doesn't need to have a hole blown in it every other episode. Frankly, there should be an entire episode where they sit around waiting for maintenance.

From the headline, I thought it had been cancelled.  I kinda hoped that someone would take it out behind the woodshed and end it all.

I watched the first 5 episodes.  After that, I couldn't be arsed.  If it gets better, I'm sure someone here will let me know.

Disney/ABC isn't going to cancel the show based on their biggest franchise, no matter how much it sucks. Not until the next Avengers movie anyway.

Just wait until they drop a hidden R2-D2 shot in to the next movie (but only on the Blu-Ray Extended Directors Cut) now that they have that property. I mean hell, you've already got a universe that has gods and aliens, why not something from a galaxy far far away.

That only actually happened in one episode that I can remember.

Folks. Its not art, its a comic book story. The story arc will evolve. They won't let it die. One guest appearance by Cap would save it for months.

I thought the pilot was great, then it got a bit shaky, but it's been improving gradually since.

It's at the point where it's straddling the line between 'meh' and 'good' right now.  It could be great, but it needs a more serialized story and fewer self-contained episodes.  They've been trying to work Centipede in as the season one 'big bad' but so far that story line just doesn't have the sense of scale it needs.

Then again, other shows have had a weak first season and pulled themselves together into something awesome later on.

It gets better.  Marginally.  They have an arc going, but they merely flirt with it.  It's time to stick the hand into Mary Jane Rottencrotch and get it done.

He's already been killed by an Alien, a Terminator, and a Predator, maybe he'll get killed by a Skrull? Or the Brood? Maybe he'll make it all the way to Avengers 2 and get killed by Ultron?

Has anyone been killed by Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers?

Probably not even then.
AoS can be bankrolled into the marketing budgets for the movies with no second thought.

Once they get their feet, you can expect the series to be part of the hype machine for whatever the next Marvel movie will be at that time.
At that point, the low budget series become a line item in each film's budget. The commercial time money will be gravy for a show that won't need to support itself on it's own merits.

He should cross the pond and get capped by a Dalek or a Cyberman.

Hmm. I'd say the most recent episode of the show tends to be the best so far. It's been getting better at a pretty constant pace over the last 4 or 5 episodes.

She plays well off of Simmons and Coulson, but not so much the rest of the team.  The show needs to do a better job developing Fitz and Simmons as well.

I like Skye more than May.

Yeah. She's terrible.

They way they involved her was terrible
Her motivations are terrible
And the fatal flaw, the character overall.. I just can't give two craps about her. She's very annoying and awkward, and they play it off as cute, but her actions are almost always unnatural for the situations she's in. Maybe they can treat her for Aspergers, send her away for a few shows and have her come back "cured."

Fitz is coming along well, I think.  Being in the field instead of the lab, he's starting to have the scales fall from his eyes.  It would be interesting to see what happens if he starts drifting away from Simmons.

And if the rumors about Mike Peterson are true, that would make up for him not being Luke Cage.

Though I'm still confused about why if he survived that explosion SHIELD didn't recover him.

Of course they got there first - it was centipede's trap. They set it, waited, and sprung it. They were there exactly when it happened. Hell, they were drinking coffee, bored, waiting for Coulson's ragtag circus of supposed misfits to arrive. Centipede set the place, time and terms.

I gave AoS almost a full season to do something interesting, and so far it still hasn't figured out what "interesting" even means. It's like hanging out with a bland clique of pretty people who are so convinced they're fascinating just because they're pretty, they never felt the need to go the extra step of developing personalities or the ability to maintain an engaging conversation.

Like a lot of others here, I've given up on the show. If I wanted to spend an hour watching dull government employees consistently fail to help the people they're assigned to watch over, I can always turn on C-Span.

As far as pacing, it's not quite as drawn out as Lost but it's not as crisp as Sleepy Hollow or Revolution.  I wish they would move a little faster, but it's a first year show and there are usually some kinks to work out.  Last week's episode was the best portrayal of Coulson yet.  Clark Gregg is a much better actor than I gave him credit for.
