lar_m: For me it's finding old Burger Chefs.
Gotfire: wildcardjack: emersonbiggins: Nickerson Farms, anyone? You've all seen one somewhere. That looks like a porn shop that used to be in the middle of nowhere. Then Walmart put a distribution center next to it.Holy shiat. You and I just referenced the Nickerson Farms porn store AND Wal Mart in the same post within 2 mins of each other. That is pretty amazing.
Tom_Slick: So someone made a blog from the You're Not Fooling Anybody SubReddit.
Shadow Blasko: Tom_Slick: So someone made a blog from the You're Not Fooling Anybody SubReddit.No. Reddit is not the center of the farking universe you asshat.I know people that did this kinda stuff with HoJo's, Holiday Inn "Holidomes" and photomats.Others gave published books on things like redbarns or burma shave sign hunts going back farther.Going back to the 70s./kids these days think they invented everything
peasandcarrots: I kind of wish Pizza Hut had kept the old design. When I was a kid, I remember the Hut near our home as being kind of a warm and inviting place. It might be nostalgia glasses; when you're that age, anywhere with subdued lighting, burgundy carpets, vinyl-covered menus, and a salad bar was a "warm and inviting place." Your mileage may vary. The complete collapse of Pizza Hut's customer service seems to have been simultaneous with their doing away with the red roof design. There's a "Pizza Hut Bistro" not far from where I live now that actually forgets they have a dining room every once in a while; as a steady stream of pick-up customers arrives for their orders, you could set off a bottle rocket in the lobby and still not get anyone's attention. A couple of times, out of perverse fascination and nothing-better-to-do-ism (usually when reading a good book) I would actually see how long it took to get noticed by staff after being seated. The record is 65 minutes. It's astonishing how little you can give a damn for your clients and still have a functioning business. Were they bought out by Bain Capital at one point?
Shadow Blasko: Holiday Inn "Holidomes"
nighble: Pizza Hut in Catonsville, MD... I think it's still there.
12349876: Shadow Blasko: Holiday Inn "Holidomes"That would be a fun challenge now. Holiday Inn quit branding 1 and 2 story hotels a little while back.

meat0918: There is one in Springfield Oregon that is a strip joint now.
TV's Vinnie: [defoenet.com image 534x302]There's a building in my town that was originally a Hot N Now that only lasted about a year, then became an office building for a credit union for about a decade, and is now being converted into a Krispy Kreme.[bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com image 300x228]

emersonbiggins: belhade: emersonbiggins: Nickerson Farms, anyone? You've all seen one somewhere.[img.fark.net image 640x454]That looks oddly familiar. Would something like that be found in, say, central Ohio?Maybe. Here's the list of locations.
jaytkay: This is a record store. The previous tenant was a store called Logan Hardware. The name of the record store is Logan Hardware.[s3-media2.ak.yelpcdn.com image 533x400]
99.998er: Still waiting for somebody with a Shakey's reference.
pappy1398: I like pizza hut pizza. They still rock the red hut roofs here too./the bread sticks are awesome.
Thingster: TFA is right/ Pittsburgh gripe.Turn where X used to be is a standard direction.I was asking where to go, explained clearly that I was new in town and was asked "know where taco bell is?" "yes" "well, turn right where it used to be.""well, where was it?"Uhhh, where taco bell used to be?.No one here knows street names, and street signs only name what you're crossing, not what you're on.farkrers, all of them.
TiMthisIS: The goofy windows are still there so it is a bit Huttish.
ultraholland: My only life's mission regarding Pizza Hut is to completely avoid Pizza Hut.
Rapmaster2000: Old Pizza Huts and old Taco Bells are hard to disguise.[notfoolinganybody.com image 500x375]
TV's Vinnie: Remember the defunct McDonald's that became a restoration facility for the old lunar orbiter tapes from the 60's?

Gotfire: emersonbiggins: Nickerson Farms, anyone? You've all seen one somewhere.[img.fark.net image 640x454]There's one on interstate 35 in Texas near the Oklahoma border that is now a pr0n store with a huge "XXX" emblazoned on the roof. It's for the truckers who like to get their jack off on while hauling garbage to put on the shelves of your local Wal Mart.
Somacandra: Pocket Ninja: Pizza Hut pizza is to every other chain restaurant pizza as Chicago-style pizza is to New York. For your next performance, you should stick your neck into any Irish pub in Dublin and shout "OLIVER CROMWELL!!!" in a loud voice.
