Thank you for not picking one of the bazillion stories with a NewsFlash tag.

CSB following:

Went to see a movie one Friday night (Cloverfield). A fight broke out near where I was sitting over a text message apparently (this was before the movie started). These 2 guys get into it and they're rolling over rows of seats (stadium seating) till they get to the bottom level of seats. They're not hurt, and one chases another out of the theater.

What is it about texts anyway?

I don't agree, but I understand.

At least you saw one good show that day.

Does texting wind you up in the special hell?

You gun nuts really need to calm down and stop this nonsense.

The best way to stop a bad cinema patron with a text is with a good cinema patron with a text.

While I don't condone shooting someone for texting during a movie, I can certainly understand it.

2014-01-13 03:58:30 PM
I need to know if the shooter or the victim was the texter before passing judgement.

2014-01-13 03:58:34 PM
If the movie hasn't started, it's fair game. Besides, some of the "lights on" previews encourage people to complete a survey to get concession coupons, etc.

The woman victim was a lone survivor, how apropos

Authorities said the argument apparently began when the suspect became upset about noise the other couple was making while texting on a cell phone.

Justifiable homicide. Case dismissed.

It's not the text per se, probably.  It's the damn backlighting on the phone distracting you from the movie.  There's a reason they drop the house lights.

And if gun nuts you mean gang banger idiots I agree. We don't know anything about the guy who did this yet but I would bet you a whole $1 he was not carrying that gun legally.

2014-01-13 03:59:29 PM
Oh I see the victim was the texter.

Well then. While I don't approve, he did certainly invite it upon himself.

I read in another article that it happened during the previews. Who the hell gets that worked up over the previews...
So, who wants to guess how long until the shooter pulls the "Stand Your Ground" bs?

The movie hadn't started yet - previews were playing when the dispute erupted inside theater 10 about 1:30 p.m.

Alamo Drafthouse shows previews of what can happen if someone tries texting during a movie -- how's the production value of the video?

Do you know what really ruins a movie for me? Gunfire in the audience.

2014-01-13 04:08:12 PM
Not that I'm saying it was justified, but I'm glad it's the person using their cell phone in the theater that was the victim rather than anyone else there.

THAT'S NEGATIVE, MAN!

I could see that for talking during the movie, but texting isn't bad if you turn your screen down.

They hand them out as door prizes at all gun shows. That's the "gun show loophole".

I bet the texting dude was an Obama plant, there for the purposes of baiting a freedom living law abiding citizen who was obviously just defending himself into shooting someone, so that Obama can bring in his sekrit Muslim Kenyan storm troopers and instill martial law in theaters across the God Blessed USA.

Yes it is. Those damn glowing screens are like flashlights in a dark theater no matter how low you turn it down.

If you need to text during a movie, sit in the back for god's sake.

It's still distracting to people near you.

CSB,
Last movie I went to see in a theatre some kid in the seat in front of me was playing with his phone.  He wasn't texting or anything actually useful he was just sitting there swiping his thumb back and forth on the screen so his homescreen was just going back and forth.  Farking ADHD kids can't even sit and watch a movie for 5 minutes without having to play with their damn phones.

Hollywood wants to get people back to the theaters?  Try building a theater where I can see and hear the movie but I can't see or hear the morons around me.  Then you'll start getting my money again.

Texting hasn't ever bugged me during movies. I don't know maybe it is because I can control where my eyes look.

Don't try it I'm special...

FTFA:  Everybody is paranoid, scared, because a movie theater should be a safe place where people should be able to go out and enjoy themselves. But what America has seen over the last couple of years is that movie theaters have become dangerous places where injuries occur

The owner of this quote probably wasn't alive when New Jack City, Boyz N The Hood, Juice, and Menace II Society came out.  For the record, I thought I was going to die during Boyz N The Hood, but that was part of the fun.  Stupid Millenials and their "no accountability" and "no random violence" and "don't judge me" bullshiat.

I still remember when cell phones first came about...  Right before the feature started they would always show some really awesome, action packed sequence, that SO looked like a real movie - then interupted by that annoying cell phone ring.

Not for nothing, but that really made a point.  Nowadays, they just skip right over that and tell you to just turn the damned thing off!!!
