(Independent)   Drinking two shots of espresso improve students' performance on exams. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning   (independent.co.uk) divider line 41

Only because the serving size of espresso is significantly smaller than the serving size of drip coffee. On a per-ounce basis, espresso has more. (Link)

I split the difference and use espresso-grind coffee in the filter basket of my Keurig.

Your link fails to take into account that espresso is made with dark roast coffee, which always has less caffeine than a light roast coffee as the roasting breaks down caffeine. Ergo, even oz to oz, espresso will have less caffeine than a cup of light roast breakfast blend.

I will not brew decaf. Decaf is the mind-killer. Decaf brings the little sleep that leads to total oblivion. I will embrace my caffeine. I will brew beverages and let them flow through, and when they are gone, I will remain...alert.

About half an hour before an exam, I would eat a banana and have some coffee. It was the best way to jump start my system after staying up all night to study, and timed out so that I didn't crash until after I got home post-test.

I don't drink coffee, but in college, I had two shots of espresso before my last final of the semester when I had 21 credit hours and a 20-hr/wk internship. It was amazingly effective. I don't know that I'd have done poorly on that final, but I do know I felt better than I would have otherwise.

I've always recited it like...

It is by will alone
I set my mind in motion
It is by the juice of Arabica
That thoughts acquire speed
Cups acquire stains
The stains become a warning
It is by will alone
I set my mind in motion

Get your buzz back when you realize the small cup of coffee tastes better, is cheaper, and has more caffeine than two shots of espresso.

Only the link does discuss those issues, however it bases its assessment that espresso is stronger on the measured amounts of caffeine in each type divided by the respective volumes. I'm pretty that's a more robust way of finding the answer than taking just one fact out of context and saying "ergo".
