Wasn't the action figure called Johnny Switchblade: Action Punk or something like that?

Also is it wrong to find some of these pics beautiful even though they depict so much destruction?

The graphical detail and texture of the ash clouds in those photos is amazing.  I bet it would be fun to be on shrooms and just watch the roiling display unfold firsthand.  Double ash cloud...what does it mean?! wooooahh hoh hoh what does it mean?!

That would be amazing, minus the whole ensuing destruction and all that jazz.

Photos of ash plumes are astounding enough, I can't imagine seeing one going so far up in real life.

I'd rather put a kids head in a semi-rigid plastic shroud than have them breathe in volcanic ash (provided that there were no better masks around anyway). The ash would damage their lungs and they might end up drowning in their own fluids from that. It may not be a long term solution but to shuttle them from one area with ash free air to another one makes sense to me in a pinch.

Volcanic ash is very sharp edged and small enough to get into the lungs alveoli and cut them to shreds pretty quickly.

Seriously, this kind of comment is bullshiat.  Maybe these people were born there, or are too poor to live somewhere else or move, or they had the choice between volcanic highlands and tsunami prone coastal areas.  Who knows why they're there.

/Am I a bad person for feeling more empathy for a cat than for a kid wearing a plastic bag over his head and torso?

In short, yes.
