BPL?

When did Celtic get let in?

Norfolking Chance: BPL?

When did Celtic get let in?

I have been assuming they mean Barclay's, not British.

Charitable of me.

FFPL report to follow during the main batch of games.

Ashley Cole sure didn't take long to get on my nerves

Defoe could be off to Toronto.
Jelavic off to Hull.

Slightly surprised by both stories. Defoe as surely a lower Prem team would want him as a second or third striker and wrt Jelavic that Hull would want to pay cash money for him.

midpoint: Defoe could be is off to Toronto.

Fixed for you, deal confirmed yesterday. The real shocker is that Michael Bradley is coming to Toronto with him.

I thought BPL is used because of Swansea and Cardiff.

Can I also say that I hate the way that the MLS has to stick their nose in every transfer dealing?

I have it on good authority, that subby meant Barclays. And may I add, this looks like a HOTY contender to me.

So Hull are putting up a fight and Chelsea are huffing and puffing but not doing much.

So a 1-0 win for Chelsea then

That one threw me for a while as I am more than familiar with there not being a unified British league or FA, but I've since learned that in the context of the threads here it is Barclay's Premier League. It is still the English league in general, although Welsh (but not Scottish) teams are eligible to join.

That is all.

Torres is having a pretty good year so far, 2 in three games if I'm not mistaken.

Errk: Does soccer ever have an off season?

Depends on the league. Most European leagues stop June-August.

I agree, I would have thought that Bradley could have played for many of the mid-table teams in the premier league and done very well.  We'll see how the Toronto move works out for him, but as a DC United fan it seems that they are stacked now.

One of my Spurs supporting friends told me that in addition to the cash that Spurs received from Toronto, the company that owns both TFC and the Maple Leafs will now be doing marketing in Canada for Spurs including providing swag to the supporters clubs and pushing the club towards Canadian fans.  TFC also now has a summer friendly against Spurs.  Pretty sweet deal for Tottenham.

I never got an email about inputting my predos this week so I forgot to do the Chelsea/Hull game.  I have all the others now though and am hung over, yay!

Worst peno I've ever seen in the Spurs game by Puncheon for Palace.

2014-01-11 10:08:40 AM
That was the worst penalty of all time.

Charlie Adam has been playing for Palace I see.

If you're watching the NBC feed, that seems to be a common problem. It's very distracting.

From the BBC:

Dog Is Dead: That was either the worst penalty I've ever seen or a moving tribute to Emile Heskey for his 36th birthday.

that deserves a chuckle.

My timing is a bit off, but anyway. Some articles about Moyes and Ferguson and the players and the Glazers and stuff.

United We Fall, Fergie?

Sir Alex Ferguson should take some of blame for Manchester United decline

Apologies for the Daily Heil link, but here's a good article on senior players effectively retiring with Fergie (hi Rio!) and their discontent over Moyes' preferential treatment of Rooney.

Nothing worth reading in this one, but as I said earlier, Moyes won't change. He confirms it. (Not sure if he was responding directly to me :-)) "If you have to change it, it suggests you were doing the wrong things in the first place, but we are not and the things we have been doing are right."

And the MSM suggests Moyes may have been the wrong man:

David Moyes's failings suggest Manchester United chose wrong man

Moyes must throw off shackles to be a success

Although the Moyes or Mourinho false dichotomy really needs to die.

I switched to the Everton/Norwich match which is quite good as long as you aren't a Norwich fan.

Adebayor just looks very bored and disinterested.

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN. What a goal by Barry.

Everton 1, Norwich 0.

2014-01-11 10:24:58 AM
Stunning strike from Gareth Barry from ~20-25 yards out.  Awesome curler into the far side of the netting.  I'm also pretty sure a young fan got to announce his name for the goal at the stadium.

Indeed Everton 1-0. Barry scored with a lot of good work from Lukaku.

Fantastic save from Timmy after a great strike from Snodgrass.

Osman doing his best Puncheon impression.

Instead of missing shots, Soldado's new strategy consists of endless back heel passes

2014-01-11 10:32:27 AM
That was the closest the Spurs have gotten to the goal.  Seems to me that the Spurs are just passing from station to station.  Very little give-and-go.

AtariGod: Instead of missing shots, Soldado's new strategy consists of endless back heel passes

He's trying for his passing achievement. Gotta do 8 successful backheels in 1 match.

How did that NOT go in?

2014-01-11 10:35:00 AM
Now I see why Bentaleb is playing. The prettiest missed shot I've seen in a while.

Something I read last week brought up a good point: maybe Fergie told Moyes to take the job because he knew no one else would be willing to come in right after him. Most of the time, when a legendary coach in any sport retires, the 1st guy in the job after him is a letdown. Maybe Fergie knew that and saw Moyes as a sacrificial lamb for a year or two to make it easier on everyone but Moyes.

He's been their only offense this whole game!

Everton are one whiff away from being 2-0 twice in a row.

Or, Fergie's the biggest fan of the Moyes Depressed Expressions Show.

Everton haven't been that good. It took a top draw strike for Everton to score.

I stuck with Everton. If it busts, it'll only continue my bust streak.
