It'll be a while.  The US has somewhere on the order of 30 sq ft of built retail floor space per capita. That's more like 15 in Canada, 7 in Australia, 2-3 in France, 1-2 in Italy or Japan, and ~0.5 in many middle income (Turkey, Malaysia, etc) level countries.  And the US is more online-shopping happy than many other countries.  We're still champion-grade consumers, but there's only so far that can go.
