Convicted criminal representing himself vs a multi-billion dollar corporation? Yeah, could go either way.

So..this is good marketing for the sale of Jordan's?

2014-01-11 01:53:11 AM
So, who would sew in the warning tag if he wins?

2014-01-11 01:55:08 AM
So... he's annoyed because he was essentially convicted of the local equivalent of aggravated battery, and like five of the hundred years he got came from the "aggravated" part (the shoes being classed as a 'weapon').

... honestly, that is kind of bullshiat as charges go, but I think his complaint would be better directed at the overzealous prosecutor that came up with that one and not the manufacturer of the damned shoes.

Depends on the locale... If victim ended up in hospital or with permanent damage, it could be a charge enhancement.

I'm not usually for killing people convicted of non-murder crimes, but in this case I'd make an exception.

There was one about a couple who tried to pay their dinner tab with meth. When the woman had 16 ounces of it in her purse. And they had a meth lab in their hotel room. I submitted it but it didn't go green.

As I just posted in the soon to be red thread..

This guy has no idea about the money Nike spends on lawyers does he? They will crush this within seconds.

/When I was working for another shoe company we where always concerned about Nike coming in and just buying us.
//Joke around the office was Nike's law department costs as much as our yearly profit.

2014-01-11 02:45:00 AM
I'm fairly certain it was his legs that were doing the heavy lifting in the beating.  Maybe he should sue the flying spaghetti monster for not putting a warning label on his legs.

It could be funny watching the pimp vs. corporate whores.

Personally I think he should sue Don King for making him think that it was legal for a man with insane hair to stomp someone to death.

Not really. We all take the hit as tax payers at that point. Somehow though, I see this guy spending a lot of time reading law books just to screw with corporations and the government. Some prisoners do just that.

/Wasn't there a story in fark last year about a prisoner filing tons of these things to the point that a judge had to make a ruling to stop him?
//They still cost time and money for everyone else, even though they will never get out.

That guy's a dipstick. Those kicks don't need a warning label. They are, after all, padded and relatively lightweight. If he'd been wearing a pair of this Oregon outfit's products, those people might be dead:  http://www.wescoboots.com/wesco/stock2010.asp Of course, either way, his parole date is still Buck Rogers.

Non-issue - crooks file suits all the time and they don't even touch the retainer for the lawyer's billable coffee break that, in this case, Nike pays. Now if he was suing a mom and pop store, there'd be an issue.

Sort of -- the conviction was for second-degree murder, but the judge reduced it to manslaughter.

Also he had 20(!) earlier convictions.  Plus stuff like disrupting court by yelling obscenities, spitting, etc.

There was also the guy who fought off over a dozen cops WHILE MASTURBATING in a bar.

I drive by that bar on the way to and from work every day. Not the sort of place you'd think such an incident would happen, that's would be the strip club about a mile south of there.

"Not something we can fix"? "That's why we have prisons"? Jesus H. Christ, Marie. Pimps are supposed to be scumbags, nothing new here. But a psychologist who thinks prisons are here for people with 'unfixable' mental disorders? Fark.

Still, the charge for assault with a deadly weapon, and the weapon being SHOES... THAT HE WAS WEARING... is kind of bullshiat.
