I don't think it would have been interesting in 1994.  In fact, it would have never been interesting.  As a TV show, it would get super old super fast.

Movies were good  (the initial one and Christmas Vacation, at least).

A TV show would suck.

Not every movie translates well into a TV show, and verse vica.

Whoever is working on this project obviously hasn't worked with Chevy before. From what I've read he's high maintenance and very hard to work with.

RIP Pierce.

The original was great (not just because of Beverly d'Angelo's tits but they didn't hurt), Christmas Vacation was sort of a sweet Christmas movie and probably the last funny thing Chevy Chase ever did. I don't see it working again.

I am willing to give it a shot. I think it would be funny if the kids changed actors each episode.

Aaron Kaplan (Terra Nova) is on board to exec produce the project, which is in the early stages of development for the 2015/2016 season. The search for a writer to pen the adaptation.

It was probably going to suck, but with that little bit of information it's DEFINITELY going to suck.

Also, who in their right mind would work with Chevy Chase after the Community fiasco?

2014-01-10 09:52:16 PM
Chevy should put in some guest appearances on The Big Bang Theory as Leonard's father.

Are they on vacation the entire time? When do they go home?

I may watch it if Russ and Audrey are in it and played by two different actors every episode.

I love the idea of a Vacation tv series.

As long as it's on showtime, done by the same folks who do spartacus, and Beverly shows her boobs as much as Lucy.

Do they mean a high Chevy Chase or a sober Chevy Chase?

2014-01-10 11:47:53 PM
So what's a typical episode plot?  Drive a winnebago across the country to visit their grandchildren while trying to use their Consumer Cellular phone's gps system that keeps getting giving wrong directions, thus creating zany adventures for AARP members Clark and Ellen Griswold?

I think I'm more surprised that the new movie fell through. Last I heard, Warner Brothers wanted a family-friendly tone while the filmmakers wanted to adhere to the R-rated tone of the original. I didn't realize it went poof.

I hope that Chevy finally catches his stupid ass and runs him down once and for all.

The reason it will suck: No swearing. This is the moment where the first Vacation transcended, and should be Chevy Chase's epitaph on Fark when he dies.

Clark: I think you're all farked in the head. We're ten hours from the farking fun park and you want to bail out. Well I'll tell you something. This is no longer a vacation. It's a quest. It's a quest for fun. You're gonna have fun, and I'm gonna have fun... We're all gonna have so much farking fun we're gonna need plastic surgery to remove our goddamn smiles! You'll be whistling 'Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of your assholes! I must be crazy! I'm on a pilgrimage to see a moose. Praise Marty Moose! Holy shiat!

Rusty Griswold: [Grabs Clark's shoulder] Dad, you want an aspirin?

Clark: Don't touch!

/It's also one of the parts where Clark goes from being a clumsy, callously ambitious family man to a psychopath, and there was a moment like this in every vacation movie.
//Also, people could relate to the scene -- your dad or mom losing it on long vacations
///You probably could make a trailer for a horror version of National Lampoon's Vacation using most of this dialogue, now that I think of it.
////Slash slash slash ...

He's Chevy Chase and I'm not.

Thank God. Overpaid, overrated, self-satisfied, complacent, arrogant, conceited, controlling, judgemental    SOB hack.

Happy New Year.  Where's the Tylenol?

Meh, sounds like a stinker, but it would be funny if they switched the actors playing Russ and Audrey every episode.

Vacation of the colostomy bag?
Chevy Chase and Beverly D'angelo in ..A NURSING HOME! ..?
National Lampoon's Senile Trip... ?

//sorry. The movies had their place, but this whole 'let's dig up 1980s or early 1990s hits and remake them' thing needs to stop.

Ellen gets the body cavity search by TSA agents that were fired from fast food jobs.  Clark ends up in Gitmo when he says the wrong thing to an undercover air marshall.  Hilarity ensues!

Where are they going on vacation to? Branson? Boca Ciega? Chevy Chase is 70.

I give mad props to what he did in the 1980s - Three Amigos and Funny Farm (yes) were a couple of favorites growing up, and Christmas Vacation is a classic.

But I have zero faith in Chevy's taste level now, and not just because he didn't "get" Community. 2/3rds of the films he appeared in after 1989 I've never heard of. Between his insane ego and not seeming to know what's "hip" in comedy anymore, I have low expectations. I can see him crafting away at home after leaving Community: "I'll show those dumb kids what FUNNY is..."

And then there's the mystery of how a professional actor lets himself get so pudgy and old looking - we're all aging, but it's like he wants people to know by his physical appearance that he no longer gives a fark.

Well, tons of people hate community (i love it) so he isn't entirely wrong.

I think a lot of people hate on it for the same reason my dad does: if he doesn't get the first ten minutes of things then he basically stops paying attention; each new bit is occurring in some kind of vacuum in which he has no knowledge of who is doing what and why.

Meh.

He's 70 farking years old.  He can look like whatever he wants.  What I don't get is his insistence that he knows what is "funny" at 70 years old.

Have you seen the commercial the two of them did for some hotel chain?

PAINFULLY unfunny.

Also, Beverly's plastic surgery makes her face hard to look at

wait... so they both are going to be on two separate sitcoms both on the same network during the same season? that seems like it will be awfully confusing.

or maybe they are not doing two separate series starring together on ABC. and one of the two rumors is incorrect. guessing the Vacation one.
