One of the men was described as "havin' purty lips", while the other is reportedly enjoys performing impersonations of farm animals

Police: 'At this point, we don't suspect foul play.'

Family: 'We will find those involved with the disappearance and punish them to the fullest extent their life has to offer.'

They were probably drinking and got lost or had an accident in the lake. Or, murder-suicide.

Interesting fact: The banjo kid from Deliverance invented Frisbee golf, or "Frolf" as it's known in some regions.

But they do however, suspect porcine play.

The family immediately suspected foul play? Makes me wonder if they know more than they're letting on. Also as someone who frequently goes hiking by himself in north Georgia, it's a bit spooky to hear about something like this.

HIking is not fishing.
FIshing in January means cold water.

Cold water will kill you fast, like in a matter of minutes you lose the ability to use your arms and legs.
Weighted down by cold weather clothing they are probably in the lake.
What was the temperature on the day they died?
Was there a canoe involved?
Watch the canoe tip, kids?
Stand up and change positions in the canoe, just for fun.
Watch it tip over in 40-degree water.
Watch them pull a Titanic death scene in the cold water.
Blub.

If by fact you mean bullshiat, sure.

Billy Redden, the actor, works at a walmart in Clayton, Ga. Ran a bistro sort if joint for years. Nice guy.

And he has never been able to play banjo.

I just checked - the air temperature that night at 9:53 p.m. was in the 20's and there was a 25 mph wind with gusts to 32.

Probably the leading edge of the Polar Vortex.

Night fishing, in Georgia, I those conditions?

yanceylebeef: Brokeback Swamp.

Kind of the first thing I thought when I saw their pictures. I imagine that it might be difficult for them to come out, so they fake a disappearance and head off together into a joyous union under other names. At 20, they would not have much to leave behind (except their families, of course).

If so, good luck to them. I would rather imagine this scenario than one where the poor boys are at the bottom of the lake :(

Icey water = quick death.

It's sad, but these boys are dead.

When I was around 11, my mother and I used to go out every weekend for lunch and a movie (part of getting over the parental separation thing). One weekend we went to see "Deliverance," which my mother assumed was a sort of vacation in the woods movie. When the movie got to that scene, my mother clamped her hand over my eyes and clutched me to her bosom. I was, of course, pissed, but she'd done similar things before, so I patiently waited to be released.

Apparently, the scene was too much for her own eyes and ears, so she dragged me out of the theater by my head and we stood in the lobby until the scene was over, then we went back in as if nothing had happened.

/lovely woman, but a bit strange sometimes

Not that much ice.  They would have to be complete tards to fall through any ice, as they would need to find some first.  It got cold this week, and then warmed up quick. Not even enough to freeze the lake over.

Yea they either fell in from a boat, or eloped.

There are lots of isolated coves, streams, and caves out in that area.  There was once even a gold rush in that area (http://dahlonega.org/index.php/festivals/162-gold-rush-days.html) and even a quietly kept nuclear research facility of some sort (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Nuclear_Aircraft_Laboratory).  Given that they were out just before the arctic winds hit, who knows what happened but I wish the families the best.  But why leave all those things are your house if all you are going to do is go fishing?

I just heard from a friend who's from Dawsonville (near Lake Lanier) that they pulled the two bodies out of the lake.

Weird things about this story:

-Fishing equipment was left behind
-One kid left his cellphone and wallet at home

If they were fishing and one or both of them fell in, why was the fishing equipment left behind?
What kid these days ever leaves their cellphone or wallet anywhere ever?

It's not that weird. It's a whole lot cheaper to miss a 4 AM call than to have your wallet and phone fall into a lake. Also, I like to cook. I have almost three blocks' worth of knives and almost as many different pots and pans. But if I only want to make some toast, I won't use any of those. These guys were avid fishermen. They probably had a LOT of gear.

Has anyone made a Deliverance joke yet?  Cause that would be clever....
