The thing is, they don't really care about the cost of it. They say they do... but they don't. Not really.

They care that someone is getting something for nothing. It violates their Malthusian sense of propriety, on a fundamental level.

What do doctors know anyways... they go to school for more than a decade and can't even figure out that the vaccines they keep recommending are killing our children and giving them autism.

Same argument they used for having no gun control.

You are missing an important point here subby, and so are the doctors. It is not gonna cost nobody nothin' if those poor people do not get to see a doctor. That is why we need to repeal Obamacare too. That's when we really save money.

Fiscally responsible conservatives blindly flailing in the domain of short sited and short term solutions. I for one am shocked.

who knew?  Certainly not Dr. Rand Paul, he is sure that food stamps cause moochers syndrome where people just kick back and live the high life on that free money.

The results show that 73 percent of teachers said they regularly instruct hungry students who don't have enough to eat at home, and 87 percent of principals said they consistently see hungry students in school. As a result of such pervasive hunger, teachers spend nearly $40 a month buying food for kids out of pocket, the survey found.

Oh yeah, "experts". If they were  really experts and could hack it in the private sphere, they'd be in the private sphere and making money instead of suckling at the government teat producing stating "articles" and "papers" to justify bigger government for themselves, wouldn't they? I'll tell you who we should be listening to, the  real experts who prove their expertise by making  shiatloads of money.

Basically, they think "What kind of parent can't afford to give their kids lunch? It's not my problem". So they may not be selfish assholes, just judgmental assholes.

Yep. My niece used to teach in a very rural (completely white) school. She took to packing extra breakfast bars and fruit for kids who had no breakfast. Ironically, many of the parents of these kids vote Republican and would like to see the unions completely destroyed.

There's some kind of notion that "If they can get crappy food for free, they'll never be incentivised to WORK for better food.

fta Food stamps, known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, feed 1 in 7 Americans

I'll bet we could double that by giving tax cuts to the rich

$100 million dollars in food stamps were cashed in at US military commissaries in 2012. Cuts to SNAP affect junior members of the military with families.

Food stamps are not in the bible, the constitution, or Atlas Shrugged.

So they are need to be abolished, furthermore reasons.

I think doctors and scientists are already there on that list.

That's totally wrong. Hunger is only a problem if you directly starve to death in the street looking like one of the Africans from a famine ridden country. Otherwise you're just a leech trying to extort more money from hard working Americans for your drug habit.

I've been told this several times by True Conservatives so it must be true.

Blues_X: If you're against helping poor children get enough food, you cannot be a good Christian.

The Bible (as written by Jesus in ENGLISH with "thees" and "thous") tells us that the poor will always be with us. (Mark 14:17, Matthew 26:11, John 12:8)

Liberals claim they are trying to eliminate poverty. This is direct defiance of the Word of God, and is therefore sinful and blasphemous.

Also, taking care of the poor does not mean letting Big Government tax productive citizens and give free handouts to lazy, worthless scumbags. It means that we can, if we wish, graciously donate some of the bounty that we have earned with the sweat of our brow to the poor folk we deem worthy of our beneficence, so that God will reward us for our generosity.

What's that? How much do I give to charity now? Nothing, of course!  The government already confiscates my income to feed welfare queens and their enormous broods. If I weren't shackled by the legalized slavery imposed by the IRS, I would have more to give to the needy.  And why should I give some of my own money when the government already gives the poors more than they deserve?  Don't you know 99.6% of "poor" people have a refrigerator?

Doesn't this play right into what the GOP wants?

"Look! Obamacare arrived and now more citizens are overwhelming our hospitals and no one can manage the volume! This is all Obama's fault!"

Who cares if there are other factors, EVERYTHING is Obama's fault and they are trying to save the US from his evil machinations.

In October, the family's Snap benefits were $113 a month, a sum that lasts them about a week and a half. A letter Acosta received warned her of a Snap cut of $11 for each family member in November. Acosta has learned to be creative: with the children's meals, with juggling bills, with trying to keep the kids from noticing the dwindling food on the table and in their schoolbags as her job search drags on.

I have doubts about the existence of human souls in people that would let children starve.

Malnutrition and or  poor diet  combined with the stress of poverty will indeed give rise to numerous health issues. Better yet, funding for birthcontrol and abortion have been cut. WTH?

Because they get Medicaid.  Are you stoned?
