...artificial volcanic eruptions are created in a bid to reverse climate change...

Don't volcanoes normally belch huge quantities of CO2? And isn't the current climate-change complaint that increased CO2 emissions are harming the environment?

Oldiron_79: BAMFinator: Hey my Metro got 50mpg on the highway.  Sure it had no A/C, no radio initially, no power, and a 1L 3 cylinder engine, but it probably helped the environment more than a Prius does today.

Yeah but it dont meet modern crash safety standards

Ex used to refer to it as "mobile body armor" especially when driven by an obese person.

Pretty damn funny even after all these years.

ArcadianRefugee: Don't volcanoes normally belch huge quantities of CO2?

Actual volcanoes do, but not a lot. At least not relative to human activity.

But we're not talking about making volcanoes, we're talking about mimicking their behavior in terms of emitting aerosols to reduce shortwave radiation.

politech: sn't it summer in the southern hemisphere

The context they were arguing about was the Arctic, not the Antarctic.

Snarfangel: Can mankind cause anything *but* a drought? Can't we cause flooding once in awhile

Yes. Changes in temperature and the hydro cycle lead to different outcomes in different areas. In some regions, not much happens as we warm up. Other regions see more drought. Others see more flooding. You can even get more flooding and drought as the overall precip declines significantly but the heaviest precip events increase in frequency, or your baseline water supply is snowmelt that melts way too early and precip falls as rain.

earth has gone through significant climate changes since man has been around, and we are still here. You can't out-nature nature.

Remember, boys and girls:  It's not global warming until tropical rain forest is growing at the South Pole.

Also, AAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLL GOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRE!

Crop failures and water shortages have been known to cause mass migrations of people and to spark wars for new territory.
You could call it a natural response to change.

Just yesterday I was driving down the freeway at 70 mph and I applied the brakes and came to a stop. I was completely fine! So you should drive your car into a brick wall. The stop won't hurt you at all.

No, the photo link I posted was of this:
Trapped research ship, rescue vessel break free of Antarctic ice
The reply (as well as the story in the link itself) illustrates the absurdity of the entire "AGW consensus/religion" movement.

politech: here to help:

It's almost like it was winter when that happened.

But yes. Let's all let a fellow on the internet who goes by the handle Hasty Ambush lead us to salvation. He seems legit.

Isn't it summer in the southern hemisphere when it's winter in the northern hemisphere?

Why yes, yes it is.

/don't let that stop you though, you are winning the fark!

Well you know what? I hadn't actually been following that story closely... like at all really aside from seeing the odd headline on the internet that I didn't click through. I had assumed that it was in the Arctic ocean and the fact that you posted that pic WHILE WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE ARCTIC reinforced that false impression. So yeah, you got me. Well done.

However seems to me that you probably did that intentionally to set me up for your petty little gloat... which if true is beyond childish and pathetic.

Also your initial point is disingenuous at best and outright ignorant at worst. I was merely pointing out that we were talking about SUMMER in the ARCTIC and you posted a pic of a boat ice locked in the ANTARCTIC which had nothing to do with the immediate topic.

BUT if you want to talk about the broader issue and are trying to imply that because a boat happened to get ice locked that global temps are going down you are soooooo wrong it's laughable. The average temperate of the earth is rising steadily. This doesn't make it so it's warm all the time. It is making the temperature fluctuate and weather patterns erratic and unpredictable. If anything that ship getting ice locked unexpectedly helps FURTHER the notion that climate change is real.

Furthermore from what I understand the permafrost/ice shelf in the Antarctic is more stable than in the Arctic but is indeed still receding. IDK why that is but perhaps it's because there is actually land under that ice holding in the cold but I'm not geologist/meteorologist or whatever type of ologist would know such things. This does not change the fact things are very bad and getting worse.

So enjoy your little victory over me not knowing which pole a ship got stuck at. You are still an enormous numbskull blindly following the marching orders of evil men who do not give a flying fart about you, your family or anyone else except themselves.

Way to go. You are a lemming.

And HIS point was the conversation being had was about the ARCTIC. Are the Arctic and the Antarctic the same place? Of course not so why post a pic from the Antarctic during a debate about the ARCTIC? Were trying to be sneaky or are you just an idiot?

Yes, I know.

The conversation you interjected yourself into was about the Arctic, not the Antarctic. So why do that?

Basically this.

soakitincider: earth has gone through significant climate changes since man has been around, and we are still here. You can't out-nature nature.

Humans have always died since man has been around, and there will be humans around after I die. So who cares if I ingest poison, amirite?

Jon Snow, Interjected? The "conversation" was off topic to begin with. The subject according to subby has something to do with geoengineering. The reasons for such an idea are subject to debate, like it or not.

/have fun embarrassing yourself
//next time get a clue before posting on Fark or be prepared to be humiliated again
///goes double for "here to help"
