Funny how many scandals bounce right off Teflon president Obama, but this one sticks right to Christie.

I'm just here to crack jokes.  I don't think I want to weigh in on the actual issue until more facts are known.

I think the distinction is fake versus real scandals.

I thought that maybe he could come out of this muddied but alive. Once he started talking about the traffic study and how there could still have been a traffic study and who knows maybe there was one that became politicized... yeah, that's when the Titanic hit the iceberg.

Yeah, that's where I headsmacked.

Was it a traffic study that got political?  Or was it politics that caused the traffic study?

That's something people are going to remember.

Why aren't these people in jail?  Also, I believe not one iota that Christie didn't know about this, but in some ways it's worse if he didn't.

In any case, this will be in heavy rotation if he runs for President.

All one needs to do is to go through the 911 records for the days of the traffic jam and find one person that may have died or ended up crippled because help didn't arrive in time. I don't care how good a politician he is... find me a little white girl that can be put on tv crying about how nana died because of Chris Christie and he's done.

There's one dead 91 year old, and a four year old girl who went missing. They found her, but the rescue effort was delayed for a few hours.

It's the complete lack of finesse in the emails.  I particularly like the one about "those are the children of the voters of my enemy" one.  Of course, Christie didn't send that email.  He just made a lot of really stupid jokes about a fictitious roads study for weeks after his friend of 40 years mysteriously quit.

I'll be honest, I kinda like his attitude. Not so much the bullying, but the willingness to look at someone and say "Ok, you're an idiot." You don't see shiat like that in modern politics, and I found it kinda refreshing.

His policies, on the other hand..

Well, I've lived in NJ my whole life, so there's that.

But what I meant is more along these lines.

He appointed a Muslim as a Superior Court judge. People started screaming about Sharia law and other such whargarbbl. These are some quotes from his responses.

"Sharia Law has nothing to do with this at all, it's crazy! The guy is an American citizen!"
"Sharia Law business is just crap... and I'm tried of dealing with the crazies,"
"it's just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background."

The second one, I especially like. I'm tired of politicians being confronted with stupid bullshiat, and them responding with a bland "Well, that's not true." Christie, on the other hand, rightfully calls out crazy as crazy. That's what I like,

This is why you don't make your presidential intentions clear years before the primary. If, in 2016, this came up people would shrug their shoulders and say "sure, closing some road is a jerk move but so what?" Now every part of this is going to be dissected and pushed into public consciousness. The people who were endangered because of it, the way Christi tries to spin it, the tone of the emails, all of it. It's permanent damage.

My roommate watches CNN. When I got home yesterday, she was trying her damndest to spin Christie out of it while also slamming him for it.

She's an odd bird, but I'd still wreck that like it was my nephew's 4th birthday party.

Since he's apologized and done some firing, I think he'll ultimately be fine as governor of New Jersey, but you can tell from the loudness of the crickets in GOP-ville when this issue was doing him damage that any presidential hopes are pretty dim.

Given the degrees and depths of Republican assholery out there, Christie really isn't that bad. He's just snarky and curt. I can deal with that.

He'd better not quit. If there's one thing that history has shown us, it's that Real Americans would never support a former governor that resigned under a cloud of scandal.

You do see sh*t like that in modern politics.  The Cable News Banter has just framed it as a novelty because fat jokes aren't in this season.  The blurted utterances that Christie is trying to be famous for are his momentary capitulations to reason.

Mostly, how he beat the public service union weenies. He's blunt and unapologetic about what he wants to get done. Not saying he's magical, but compared to his predecessor, Jon Corzine, I think most tax paying New Jersians would say he's doing a much better job.
