That right there is the best fark comment in the entire commentary section.  You won't find a better comment in all the league.

Nana's Vibrator: Waldo Pepper:
I feel folks here give Coaches way too much credit. Most of these guys are the alpha male type who feel they can control any situation.  Besides with the money Snyder would offer a big name coach, one would be a fool not to take the money. 5 year contract only have to work 3 or 4 of those years and get paid another 5+million not to work. not a bad deal.

One could argue that any control-freak alpha male with a brain would know he'd have to leave his alpha balls at the door when he showed up to Camp Snyder.
In any event, Whisenhunt doesn't have the job.  No one of any consequence at all has the job, but you know who does?  "Jon's brother" Jay f'ing Gruden does.  That's pretty telling if you ask me.
This is the guy who just watched his team lose a playoff game because he can't teach a quarterback about making good decisions and planting and stepping into throws.
/RIP Redskins fans.  I do hope I'm wrong.

So Tony Romo is just being Tony Romo when he throws a season ending INT but when Dalton melts down under pressure its all because of poor coaching?

Im amazed anyone gets hired in the NFL at this point because they are all so goddamn flawed according to the millions of armchair coaches that can see their every mistake

/imagines the modern internet tearing the dysfunctional NE Patriots apart for hiring that retread loser coach from The Browns.

//Or that unoriginal OC who got his play calling duties stripped from him by Jim Fassel getting hired to run the bottom feeder Saints

It could be a full Gruden family!  John, Jay, Cobb, Jingleheimer, Schmidt...

Fade2black: In other news, the rest of us can think of about 6,734 things more important in our daily lives than what a sports team with an ego owner and his lackey QB in a sophomore slump call themselves.

Indeed, simply because other things are more important, we shouldn't fix the things that would be easy to fix.

Also, wouldn't it just be really, really fun to force Snyder to change the name of a team he only bought because he loved it so, so much and wanted to jerk his ego off? You'd simultaneously be sh*tting on his childhood AND telling him that he can't do something.

I feel like that second argument isn't brought up NEARLY enough in the pro-name-change argument.

EvilMonkeyBoy: Im just becoming extremely confused as to what is actually, if ever, considered to be a good NFL hire.

Hell, if this was Jon Gruden being hired from the Ray Rhodes Eagles fans would have even more reason to shiat all over the move. Jay's 3 years running an offense were much more productive than anything Chucky did in Philly.

It's less about the quality of the hire, and more about whether or not anyone can actually be successful in DC. Which is highly unlikely under current ownership.

at first i didn't care for him announcing.  he seemed to genuinely dislike mike terico (sp?) and always pandered to 'jaws' cause he was a quarterback.

i have grown to like him over the years though.  his football knowledge is certainly up to snuff and he's developed his own style and cadence.  while nothing as great as a madden "boom!"  - but he's cornered the market on saying "impressive"

however (& i realize gay jokes are super easy in sports i.e. anything with balls)  but he called a game the other day & dropped the following (and paused dramatically, perhaps realizing too late?) when referencing a dominant offensive line: "the O line IS LICKING THE MAN IN FRONT OF THEM"

lulz

IAmRight: As I said to the AFL friends I have congratulating Jay on getting the job, I'd have to offer condolences, because working for the Redskins under Snyder basically kills your coaching career.

Who needs a career when Snyder pays you $7M to sit on your ass?

Well, Jay Gruden DID turn Andy Dalton into a household name each year in the playoffs.

In my household, it's like, "Goddamit Andy Dalton!!  What the fark are you doing?"

I look forward to Gruden achieving a 40% win percentage, becoming scapegoated in favor of whichever star player has Dan Snyder's eye, and eventually being fired with nowhere near the coaching respect than he had yesterday.

/I'm amazed he left his cushy job to coach the Redskins.
//Actually, I'm just amazed anyone agrees to coach the Redskins.
