Anyone who drives a bus filled with kids is insane anyway, and if they don't begin as a mental patient they sure will end up being one.

FTA: Marzano said this week that the driver received a notice in the mail from First Student on Nov. 20 stating that she needed to contact the company within 24 hours of receiving that notice or the company would consider her resigned.

I've never heard of anything like this....an employer saying "hey we mailed you a thing, but since we didn't hear back within 24 hours of you getting it, we'll just say you quit"...

I don't see the big deal. Everyone has to sometimes reach deep inside in order to survive. In this case, she found a roll of tape.
Me? I'd have played "Brake Check" at 45mph.

It's one of the ways that small-town papers use to monetize their low-circulation news websites and thereby stay profitable and continue to exist and serve their people. It's better than a pay wall. Don't hate.

Maybe the bus driver was stopping verbal bullying with creativity.  Maybe if enough parents gave permission to use tape, maybe the little farkers would straighten up and bus rides wouldn't be so godawful.  Maybe what the driver did was over the line, but I understand.

She did it for the safety of the children in her charge. You see, noise is a distraction when you're driving. Therefore, in an attempt to make her bus as safe as possible for the children, this driver was simply taking every precaution to insure the safety of the precious cargo she was transporting. She should be applauded for her efforts.

We had a kid rifle a snowball at our bus driver hitting the windshield.  How we didn't crash still baffles me to this day.

Bus driver should have duct taped that arsehole's balls.

Fair enough, but Farkers, including yours truly, expect to click on a link that contains more words than TFH. White Knighting such bait-n-switch headlines will NOT win you friends on Fark. Jus' sayin'... ;^)

I'm still mildly impressed that someone bothered to click the link to browse the article.

We Mainers are kind of anal that way:  mountain-dwellers, Down-Eastahs, and flatlanders.  And then there are those that dwell in the County, in which one does not simply walk in to.

FTFA:  A school bus driver who allegedly put Hello Kitty duct tape on students' mouths and subsequently lost her job is disputing her termination by her employer, First Student.

First time I've heard of it too.  I suspect it's 'better' for the employer if an employee quits rather than firing someone.   I'm not an HR person by any stretch, but I think if an employee resigns rather than being terminated the employer can challenge their unemployment benefits (the employer may be on the hook for some of the benefits depending on the reasons for termination) and the employer has a legal leg-up if the former employee files for wrongful termination.
