(Daily Star)   It's not just mics that are always hot in TV studios - so are earpieces, so don't refer to your anchor as the "farking big whore" and "the biatch" when throwing to her, even if it's just to see whether she'll flip you off on camera again (pics)   (dailystar.co.uk ) divider line

"I was shocked and extremely offended to be called a f****** big whore and a biatch in my earpiece," Miss Vernon told the tribunal.

'Seriously, I'm not that big', said the f****** biatch whore

A tribunal in Birmingham has awarded her £3,250 after successfully suing her former employers for sexual harassment.

That's a little over $5000 US... I bet the TV Station will think twice about sexual harassment in the future.

Seriously, that's ridiculous. Her response was unprofessional, and probably should have gotten her fired/in trouble. But the courts awarding her $5000 for this? That comment was enough to make her end her career. The lawyer on this case should be ashamed he didn't take them for millions.

Gabrielmot: The lawyer on this case should be ashamed he didn't take them for millions.

The possibility that people can be taken for millions is what throttles a lot of behavior and drives a lot of our costs up. Not that evildoers shouldn't be punished - but that lawyers can make a case, win a huge settlement, and ruin a business or a life.

It would be different if lawyering were synonymous with justice, but it's not. It's an expensive chess game using your money where the lawyers lose nothing; it's not justice.

Example: young lawyer slips on wet spot in gym during basketball game with buddies. Injures knee. Claims it's the gym owners fault for not maintaining the court - but we all know a wet area could've come from anywhere.
Claims loss of consortium as well as all the medical consequences. Wins case (despite my vote on the jury). Damages paid to him are enough that the gym owner loses his business. Imagine you're the gym owner, or the TV station owner, losing your business because of this.
That's not justice.

A reasonable expectation, I mean it's not like she was presenting a live TV show or something.

Set up a corporation. Pay yourself profits as a salery then when you get sued declare bankruptcy and close company. Then make a new corp buying all the assets of your old company for cheap and continue doing business

It's England. You're only getting millions from an employment related lawsuit if there's very clear evidence that you were hounded out, probably on the basis race and/or gender and/or sexual orientation, over a prolonged period, and that your loss of potential earnings was enormous.

This is the highest ever successful claim, £1.7m higher than the #2 spot, and the conduct involved was absolutely outrageous.

An insult should be worth millions? Whore is a go-to insult for women, even by other women. Straight men love to call other straight men "cocksucker" too. That's not worth millions though. I think your value-meter is broken.

Especially because she messed up her future employability for $5000. Her name appears in a google search. If a woman was whispering "you biatch-ass, punk, trick" in a man's earpiece would he deserve millions?

Your claim is what is ridiculous.
