It's the new event: Synchronized Ski Jumping.

Obviously, it's attached to the helmet and they deleted the rig in post-production.

Mystery solved.

I like to think it was shoved up the ass of the guy right in front of him, but I'm funny that way.

That's what subby's mom said.

/doesn't even know what that means

FTA: "We should start attaching HD action cameras to everything in the weirdest angles we can imagine."

I'm pretty sure GoPro porn already exists.

GoProN?

Yet another instance of subby not even bothering to read the article he/she's linking?

I weep for our farking future.

I was going to suggest a RC helicopter being flown 8" if front of the guy.

I believe it is a rhetorical question and is just meant to entice you to watch the video.  It is generally obvious that the camera mount would have been removed in editing.

That's the fakest video I've ever seen.

Aside:  I'm trying to figure a way to attach a GoPro mount to the handle of my ski pole. Anyone have any simple ideas? Yeah, I could get one of those sticks but that means when I used it I'd have to hold two ski poles in one hand (not too hard to do, just kind of a pain). If I could somehow place a mount just below the pole-handle, I can clip the camera to it and not have to carry another piece of gear.

From the little I've seen of it Gismodo's Sploid seems particularly idiotic and clueless.

I note that there is a comment saying the camera attachment was edited out in post-production (which wouldn't be necessary if it was originally stated in the article). Sploid probably revised the page so they didn't appear clueless.

No, it really is not that cool. Unless you're one of those people that like talking to other people six inches away from their face.

Just a wild guess, but I would say the camera is right in front of him.

Howard Wolowitz is a ski jumper now?

Look at RAM mount products.  You can probably look at trying to make a motorcycle bar mount to work.

Get the bicycle handlebar mount. It tightens up small enough for a ski pole, no problem.

Thanks to the both of you for the suggestions. I'm going to first try the handlebar mount since I can get one cheap on eBay. The RAM mount looks good but is a bit pricey (about $40).

we need more as cams in sports. would be a big improvement

A drone cam being autopiloted by face tracking software was my first thought.  Seems like it won't be long before that becomes a real thing.
