Igor Jakovsky: frepnog: Danger Mouse: I'm amazed that the show is no longer really about pawning, but about the personalities they've built.
I don't like the phoney stories they create for the charectures...as I mentioned earlier the whole Hoss may quit for another job down the street. chumlee just bought his first POS house. That insults me.

agreed.  Chum is a farking millionaire at this point; having the old man talk about docking his pay for missing a few hours is hilarious and stupid.  I get that the show still tries to portray a "working man's atmosphere" but it is getting pretty stupid, and the forced drama (and none of them can act AT ALL so it is so obviously faked) sucks.

Just show me cool stuff, let Rick pretend to know everything in the universe about this Ming dynasty piece, and leave the drama on the floor.

Cut out the characatures and the silly fake stories and you have antiques roadshow vegas.

And id be fine with that. I watch it for the items and the history not for the "reality" aspect of it.

Another thing. Who are they selling all this merchandise to? Ive never seen the clothing on an actual person in public.

If you went and stood on the Vegas Strip today it would take you less than ten minutes to find a tourist wearing a Pawn Stars shirt.

I don't know who this guy is, since I've never seen the show, and I only came in here to mention that that's an ugly guy, no matter how much he weighs.

By marriage, she's likely related to Mitt.  They're like Mormon royalty.

Cyclonic Cooking Action: Can the History Channel go back to just showing history?  Make another channel called Semi-Reality Show and put all this shiat there.

H2 has some intelligent programming ( eg. Engineering an Empire, Big History), but it unfortunately counterbalanced by dumb shows like Ancient Aliens and America Unearthed .

/
I'm sure H2 will soon be a mirror image of its History Channel parent...

Pawn Stars is one of the few shows on THC that actually talks about history.  Yes, the made up drama about the guys at the shop is silly but I've never failed to learn something historical from watching that show.

I have learned TONS of cool shiat watching Pawn Stars.  I had never heard of death clocks, for instance.  Fascinating stuff, and they actually HAVE some.
