The mall closest to me has two Macy's. They can probably close one. Turn it into a Nordstrom's or something.

Franco: The whole economy is one ticking time bomb. How many more jobs can we slash til we reach profitability. Quick ship more jobs to china. That should do it. Automate the rest. We should change the national motto to: "Profits Before People."

So you're saying you'd rather Macys go out of business and have 175,000 people lose their jobs than 2,500 people? Some of which are open positions and not actually people getting fired? Some of which are people getting transferred to the new stores they're opening?

Unobtanium: Subby: shuttering dozens of stores
Actual article: Net opening of three stores.

I am actually somewhat surprised that subby wasn't truthful and accurate. My brother needed some "emergency dress pants." He tried a couple of stores and wound up at Macy's. The $75 pants cost $6.50 after all the markdowns.

You have to understand that lefties like subby aren't really capable of handling the markdown and coupon process. They're the ones who pay sticker.

bronyaur1: I don't for the life of me understand why anyone shops at this store.  They have not a particularly compelling selection of stuff, and most of it has a quality just slightly above Target or Penny's, but at about three times the cost.

There are better options for almost everything they sell, including Amazon.

If you buy anything they give you a coupon for 20% off the next thing you buy. If you have their card you get 15% off and they run coupons for 15% to 30% off for sales or whatever.

Really isn't more expensive than other places.

Not sure why this is a fail... should they keep the stores open that are losing money?

In the malls around here they tend to have separate stores for Mens and Womens clothing. That's crazy.

FWIW, I worked this holiday season at a Macy's in suburban Mass. We seemed to do great for business, young and old.

/not a bad job, too bad it was seasonal
//lotta cute CWs. Especially that girl in replenishing

It's not your grandfather's Macy's.  If I wanted to be ignored and talked down to by a bunch of arrogant, obnoxious biatches, I'd stay home.
