It makes sense that it would come from someone with that much time on their hands though.   I like the sentiment,  it'll never happen though, but very nice try.

Stupid farkin' Yinzer.  Go wait till next year.

This settles it. Steeler fans are the worst, most obnoxious, fans.

Odds that this guy is in prison?

Meh. I hate the Steelers as much as anyone (Bengals fan), but I'll give them a pass on this one. The guy's in jail. Not much else to do. Why not?

2014-01-08 08:55:10 PM
As a Steelers fan, let me be the first to disavow any association with this asshat.

But with that out of the way, litigation seems to be the next logical step in the NFL's nitpicky slow motion based officiating system.

2014-01-08 08:56:19 PM
Actually interesting.  IANAL (lol anal) but if professional incompetence costs your city $X in revenue that it would've gotten if its team made the playoffs, isn't that basically what civil courts are for?

Benjamin Stone: Hand written? lol.

Considering that TFA says "the suit was filed via inmate mail from the Pennsylvania corrections department", I'm going with 100%

Soo... Time for major league sports officials to start carrying professional liability insurance not unlike Professional Engineers do?

Probably not a bad idea considering the economic ramifications that certain ass-water towns with nothing else to live for may experience in the event that their team gets screwed out of a play-off appearance due to the malfeasance of an official employed by the NFL to officiate the proceedings of an officially sanctioned event.

As a Steeler fan, I'll be the first to admit this guy is both an idiot and a jackass.

2014-01-08 09:16:26 PM
So if the currently-eliminated Chiefs make a field goal, the currently-eliminated Steelers and currently-eliminated Bengals would have to play a game? And the Chiefs would still be eliminated?

Hilarious. Does the letter have the footnote "PS: I am not a crackpot"?

bronyaur1: I hope that the cost to the taxpayers associated with this action is defrayed in its entirety by this idiot.

He is in prison. He filed electronically. The "cost" to the taxpayers is so negligible that it would cost the government more to calculate the minuscule sum than to just overlook it.

So you're saying it was Luke Steelerstahl?

2014-01-08 09:32:35 PM
If the Steelers had even one of their eight losses this season then yes, they deserved to be in the playoffs. Otherwise, sorry about their luck. They played poorly enough that a bad call affected their season - so sorry - too bad - enjoy your tee times.

/Steelers fan
//would have been ashamed had they 'made' the playoffs
///8 -8 for this season should be appreciated

Yeah in jail you have nothing but tie to file lawsuits. Isn't there some inmate that has filed 100s of them (he is notable but I cannot recall the details) about jsut about everything in he world. Lawsuits and FOIA stuff....

2014-01-08 09:56:10 PM

I want to sue Primanti Brothers.

For all the hype all the yinz I know built it up to be, I've had better sandos at a random gas station with Guldens on it.

Bob Falfa: I love that it's all handwritten! And not too many spelling errors either!

I see enough lawsuits in my job and this is actually a little better written than a lot of them.  Sure, it's gripey and a bit overwrought but he's not illogical in it and makes a decent case without seeming like a complete crank.  Pretty clear printing, too!

2014-01-08 10:16:15 PM
I'm surprised he only sued the NFL. Typically these lawsuits also sue at least one major political party, a President or two, multiple captains of industry and/or the companies they head, and either God or Satan. At minimum.

2014-01-08 10:24:38 PM
Fine, if this is granted then the court should also overturn two of the Steelers of the Super Bowl victories: 1) against Seattle because the league admitted major officiating errors and 2) against Arizona for not calling a block in the back during the Pick 6 runback.  No TD, Arizona wins.

/not going to happen

How very Al Davis of him.  Hmmmm...quite admire it.

2014-01-08 10:58:14 PM

//Just saying no matter how good the NFL thinks he is, there will always be that game on his resume.

So if we're playing the hindsight game the missed call in week one means the Chargers still are in the playoffs and get a Superb Owl? Right?

Plus you have to root for the Chargers for the lulz.

I'm not even sure I'd be mad if the Seahawks made it to the SB again and lost to the Chargers somehow.

I don't think any Steelers fans agree with this suit. As a Steeles fan, I'm glad they didn't make the playoffs because they didn't deserve to be there.

not every Sunday, just the 20 some that make up the NFL season

One has to ask what standing he has to bring the suit. If he's in prison he probably isn't a taxpayer.

No, the Seahawks need to lose the Superb Owl to the Pats, after Brady has an amazing ref aided comeback. The response from Seahawks fans would be epic.
