I would have been more disturbed if Hitchcock hadn't been traumatized by the film.

Well if the shower scene was toodark they should have added yakity Sax that lightens up anything.

Oh lord I think I might be trolling to hard for even my loose standards.

How much of this thread about the Holocaust will speak exclusively about the 6 million Jews that lost their lives, and not one mention of the 5-6 million ethnic Poles, Roma and Belarusians, and the tens and hundreds of thousands each of Serbs, Slavs, Jehovah Witnesses, African descent, Mentally Handicapped, Homosexuals, Bosnians, Albanians, Freemasons, and Slovenes persons that were murdered in the concentration camps and elsewhere with the same purpose of extermination?

Actually,

The article did not bring religeon, hertiage, ethnicity, nor did anyone in the thread.  But you did.

I'll watch it, but I will only compare it to Salo.  If it's more disturbing than that I'll be impressed.

This may be a dumb question, but I'm curious as to why that film would be "Not Rated" as opposed to, well, "X" (NC17 nowadays?)?

That brings up a good counter question. Do you think of any other group of persons other than Jews when the word Holocaust is used and what is the first thing you think of when someone mentions Jews?

There was a Pew Research Poll a few months ago that found that 73% of Jews when asked "What does it mean to be Jewish?" answered 'Remembering Holocaust'.

Where have we let the remembrance of this tragedy go when we forget all the loss that resulted because of it and one group comes to identify with it more than any other aspect of their heritage?

Some it is available from PBS

I just watched it, and again I think. How the hell can anyone, any human, do this to another human and still think of themselves as civilized?
Religion aside, what kind of monster could possibly think this was a good idea. How did they sleep with the fact they killed innocent people?

I'll never, ever, understand the mentality that went into the holocaust. It's the worst of humanity.

The part where the girl was busted with a turd she wasn't supposed to drop made me giggle, actually.

Because they are greedy and like gold. Oh, and they are mischievous. Plus, they like bright green and wear shamrocks.

Or is that leprechauns? Whichever, I hate those little elves with a passion for flaunting their ill-gotten wealth and stealing my Lucky Charms.

I don't know.  Haven't seen it in years.  Once was enough.  Maybe European movies get a free pass?
/I do know that Man Bites Dog is still banned in most of Europe, so it's hard to make the discern for what's reasonable to ban and what is not.

That's not so much a counter question as a desperate move to turn the thread to the subject YOU want to talk about. And/or moving the goal posts. It's an important lesson to be learned: wait until someone brings up a subject before you respond to it.

~~The film took far longer to make than had originally been envisaged. By late 1945, the need for it began to wane. The Allied military government decided that rubbing the Germans' noses in their own guilt wouldn't help with postwar reconstruction.

This event would mark the start of Britain's "don't mention the war" policy.

I hope it's a better watch than Spielberg's efforts.

Yes, I mean Steven Spielberg. If your Oscar winning documentary has interviews that can be easily debunked by some internet-nazi nerd, you have problems regarding veracity.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80GgRWuXcO8

This is a serious question and related to the video above: Is it possible to 'erase' tattoos ie, the ones the Nazis did on the Jews, by injecting some sort of chemical into the skin? I have never heard of this or anything remotely similiar and yet, there's a woman in that documentary who says that's what happened to hers. And she mentions that 'skin lampshade' thing as well, which I read was a rumour and never proven. Anyway, I found Spielberg's doc to be highly dubious in its accounting, which really surprised me.

Jews being the most persecuted people in the history of the world is a myth perpetrated by the Hollywood Judiac cult, they run the media and the cinema and have for years lent credence to the lies about the being slaves in Egypt, being expelled from most European countries, the Inquisition,  and the boldest lie of all, the Holocaust.

Easy answer, because everyone hates the Roma.  They did then, and they do today.  Not because of any ethnic reason, but just because the Roma continue to be mostly made up of grifting assholes.   As to the Poles, my family was smart enough to move to America before the war started.  Not my fault the others couldn't read the writing on the wall.  They bought their ticket, I say let them be turned into soap.

/No, I'm not serious.  Well, except maybe the Roma thing.

My cousin is getting tattoo removal on his face (it is actually black powder embedded in his skin from an explosion but the appearance is that his entire face was covered in a tattoo). They use a laser that breaks up the ink (or in his case powder) into smaller particles that his body can push out (through his urine, no less).

At least that is how he described it to me.
