If Rush says it's true, then it must be.  If you can't trust ex-con junkies, then just who can you trust?

Weaver95: Limbaugh must be getting REAL desperate if he's recycling old left wing conspiracy theories and giving them a GOP retread.

You may not recall the heady days of the late 1990's, when Clinton ruled over America with an iron fist made of unmarked black helicopters.  The right wing had his ascension to dictator-for-life all mapped out, he would use UN peacekeeper troops to quell the rebellion and run the camps - they would use all the markers on the backs of highway signs to know where to oppress, or something.

dittybopper: JerseyTim: garandman1a: It sounds like all the nightmares the liberals said would happen in 2008 & Bush not giving up the presidency.

Which is like all the nightmares the right said would happen in 2000 & Clinton not giving up the presidency.

Which is like all the nightmares about Reagan not giving up the presidency.

I can't really link to any examples, because it was a fringe view (like the others), and at that time we didn't have the intarwebs, just bulletin boards and fight-o-net.  But I do recall seeing them.

Reagan didn't give up the presidency.  He forgot he was president and wandered off.

Wellon Dowd: As an example, Limbaugh said if a Republican is elected in 2016 and says certain aspects of Obamacare were sought to be dismantled, "Obama is going to call the media, and he's going to go on TV as though he's still president, and the media will treat him that way.

Lord knows the media couldn't make it to Chicago or Hawaii if Obama wanted to talk to them.

As well as there are apparently no known ways of talking to the media in DC from Chicago or Hawaii, either.

2014-01-08 02:43:05 PM

Weaver95: God Is My Co-Pirate: And if he said he was moving to Hawaii, they'd be accusing him of building an underwater volcano lair.

I would totally go work for Obama if he builds a tropical island volcano lair.

The answer is a guaranteed yes, according to Rush Limbaugh, the nation's most-listened-to radio broadcaster.

Well hell, if THAT doesn't make you an instant authority on absolutely EVERYthing, I don't know what else will.

He's got a point, you know... Washington DC is the only place in the universe where you can "call the media" and then "go on TV"...

No word from Rush on how Obama is going to sneak into the WH in order to hold these press conferences "as if he were still President"?

Let's give him a chance to clean up his own mess by appointing him Health & Human Services Secretary after his term.

Or not.

Just yesterday I was thinking about starting a petition to repeal the 22nd Amendment.

I don't think it would succeed, nor do I think he would run again if it did, but a look at his potential replacements on both sides of the aisle makes me think it's worth a shot.

Easy, Barack will be "plugged in" to Hillary and all her decisions.

Hey, it worked for Taft.

Didn't John Quincy Adams go back to the Senate?

Close. He served in the House of Representatives for a long time after his term as President. Wiki says ~17 years.

Obama (and Clinton, and W, etc) COULD theoretically serve in Congress, just not in any position that puts them in the Order of Presidential Succession (Speaker of the House, PresProTemp of the Senate and I think one or two others).

IIRC, Taft was the last one who even went back to public service.

The way I understand it, they can still serve in those positions, but they'd just be passed over for eligibility should the freak scenario occur that would necessitate elevating the position to the Presidency.

Otherwise, every Cabinet member would also need to be eligible for the Presidency, and that's obviously false.

Nope. He could hold any of those positions, it's just that he would be automatically skipped over if succession came to him in one of those positions. We did the same with Madeleine Albright, the SecState under Clinton, because she wasn't a natural born citizen (born in Czechoslovakia). Kissinger too I do believe (born in Germany). Right now the person in the #8 slot is to be skipped over in the event that it comes to her as Secretary of the Interior (Sally Jewell, born in the UK).

hubiestubert: It's not like folks who leave elected office ever get jobs near the capitol. I mean, that's illegal isn't it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that former presidents generally go back to regular jobs once they are done being president. Their job from that point forward is pretty much being a former president, and you can do that just about anywhere. Sounds like a pretty sweet gig, actually. Draw a nice pension, give the occasional speech, maybe do a little consulting. It's good work, if you can get it.

Watching the Rifftrax of ROTJ the other day, I noticed something:
Why are the most "wretched" places in the SW universe always playing happy music? (Or maybe Tattooine is just that kind of planet?)

In the Mos Eisley cantina it was klezmer/jazz and Jabba's palace it was a pop star (and NOBODY better mention CGI Great Aunt Petunia's honky-tonk-inspired number). So they'll take your money and kill you, to the sounds of REM's Shiny Happy People?

// HEYHEYHEY - pull this bus over to the side of the Pretentiousness Turnpike, OK?

i was thinking just the other day it'd be cool if he ran for Senate or House or even Governor of some state after being done with the Presidency. it has been a long time since an Ex-President has done such a thing.

John Quincy Adams in the House
Andrew Johnson in the Senate

being a Supreme Court justice like Taft would be pretty hilariously awesome too. heads would explode on that one.

no one has done a Governor yet... and won anyway.

doublesecretprobation: Obama is going to hang around D.C. for the gay parties, a C.N.N. show and like Sharpton and Farakhan just generally be there to keep the racial animosity pot simmering. Knock Out games, etc. have to keep going so Obama can lead the race war. He's an extreme narcissist who is run by a Globalist Mafia. He isn't going to be dissuaded by a little thing like the end of his term. He has visions of Mandela (his hero) and "Necklacing", like he did, lighting diesel fuel in tires put over peoples' waists. Obama and his "supporters" have "great things" in mind for him and he isn't done yet. We're just getting warmed up with this guy who calls himself "Obama".

also...

Taft was 64yo when he was Chief Justice.
Adams was 76yo when he went to the House.
Johnson was 67yo when he went to the Senate (for like 4 months and then died).

Obama will be 57yo when he is done with the Presidency. so plenty young enough to do something like that. if he wanted to.

How else can he destory the USA and usher in SHIRA law as the new Muslum nation. That's the end game people.
Step one: get elected and get the economy to start to recover.
Step two: improve international relations
Step three: try to improve the healthcare system.
Step four: SHIRA LAW

It's funny on so many levels, not the least of which apparently even Obama haters agree he's improved the economy and international relations.
