What, no angry signs like at their ski resort?

I like the use of the 'cool' tag for a story about a water park.

Question is: Who can afford it and who can really use it?

alice_600: Question is: Who can afford it and who can really use it?

It's all a part of the plan.  Kim Jong Un does a cannonball and the whole town gets its daily water.

North Korea: Come for the water park, stay for the crazy.

I don't know why, but reading that article reminded me of the scene of Napoleon at the water park in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.  Maybe they could replace him with Kim Jong Un now.

Christ, even their water park pools scream joyless totalitarian regime:

www.nknews.org

Couldn't they at least have added one of those massive painted murals of glowing victory over the imperialist American murder-men they're so fond of making?

I've seen inner-city Y pools with way more charm and "fun" than this "water park."

Charging $50 per person, the People's Committee in Kangwon Province and DPRK Ministry of Sports

Ha!!  American imperialism wins again!!!  They are forced to use our dollars!!!  We own you Norks!!!

anticipated a net revenue stream of $62.5 million from the ski resort per year, of which $43.75 million will be profit.

Yeah, you keep dreaming Jong Un.  The water park doesn't even look all that impressive, is charging too much and it is located in a pariah state.

That is because the Y wants to promote Hope and Happiness even when on a very tight budget.

If Denis Rodman uses that pool, there is not enough chlorine to kill the  Gonasyphaherpaaidshepolits  that will leach out of every orifice on his body.....

I think so.

It's a trap. That twisty water slide looks like fun and games until it feeds the unwitting citizens into a giant sausage grinder. Ha! How do you think Bulgogi is made?

2014-01-08 02:06:30 PM
hmm, 50 dollars a day to go to the new ski resort they have planned when average wage is 1800 a year.

nice.

I think it's you that is the one dreaming about the price of skiing at one location having anything at all to do with the price of admission to a water park that's somewhere else entirely.

Sure is better than their last water park

Did they forget the water for their pools? Or could they have waited until summer for this summer to open it?

I don't know which is more naughty, the ham or the porn. Though as a Jew I can certainly say that at times I enjoy porn, but wouldn't touch ham with a ten foot pole.

FTFA: for the average North Korean, who the CIA World Factbook estimates earns just $1800 per year

I thought it would have been less. Way less. That's $5 a day. Weren't there countries in Africa plus Burma plus Afghanistan living on $2 a day? Or are my statistics from the 1990s?

According to NK's advertising, this pool is popular as it has 70 swimmers in it.  However, only ten has floaties.

Well, I wouldn't put water in a pool during winter time either.  Note the snow surrounding the place and a clearly winter sunset.

Waterboarding for sure, or more auto-correct barbeque?

What a joke.  Americans don't throw Korean babies down wells.  We eat them.

By the way, when's the last time we used an M3A1?

Wow, it's like the North Korean version of the Dells!

Now North Korea and Wisconsin share two things in common (the other is winter weather).

They really need to learn how communism is supposed to work.

This should be like a public park and anyone is free to use it.  They all pay some taxes to build the infrastructure, but everyone can benefit from using public facilities for free.

Kim just tells everyone there is water in there, and they believe him. If you don't make splashing sounds with your mouth when you hit the concrete or display enough joy on your face after going down the dry slide, they haul you off to camp 14.

You do the same when you pay a toll on the toll roads.  Your taxes pay for it and then you pay to use it!
