(Washington Post)   The GOP is at war with itself over what their "poverty agenda" should be. Should they continue to ignore poor people, expand upon calling them lazy, or initiate some sort of bootstrap distribution program (with a commensurate tax cut for the rich)   (washingtonpost.com) divider line 70

Right, because you're trivially refuted point is on "the side of history and rationality".  You need to ditch your lazy delusions of grandeur.

And yet tons and tons of poor people vote them into office over and over again.

jakomo002: People who genuinely want to "end poverty" don't go into US politics,

Funny...during my morning drive I heard one GOP politician say "we shouldn't extend unemployment benefits, we need to DO SOMETHING to address the root cause"...!!!

The answer is simple. Invade another third-world country and lower the Army's entrance standards.

If they don't vote republican, Democrats would enact all sorts of anti-religious laws like Sharia Law.

So vote Republican to avoid laws which dictate morality and regulate women's reproductive rights?  Makes sense.

jakomo002: coeyagi: Way to fail as an independent. Obama couldn't close Gitmo because of the GOP. F*ck off, amateur.

Wow.  Way to go down in flames.  Wipe the spittle from your monitor

If you desperately need to label me, I am an anarchist, specifically anarcho-syndicalist....  Look it up.

No, you are a failure because you can't recognize reality - Obama DID reverse some Bush policies, primarily waterboarding, but don't let that stand in the way of lying.  And the GITMO thing from you is a lie - the GOP would not support closing it.

So keep going with the BSAB narrative.... just don't forget, like a good shill, to add SVR at the end.

jakomo002: The GOP and the Democrats are mostly millionaires, no? From Congress to the House to even lower down the chain. Most of them weren't poor and became rich, they were rich to begin with.

So asking them to solve poverty is like asking my dog to calculate pi.

LET THEM EAT PI!

think about it. where do these poor people get their news??  from big business owned News networks.  once the puzzle comes together, then you see the picture.  if you own/control how news is done in a Nation, you control the Nation.

If you going to be evil, just go Full Evil and get it over with.

- calling poor people wild animals that won't go away if you keep feeding them (check)
- they are all drug users (check)
- kids should work as janitors for the lunch program (check)
- forcing miners to watch political speeches without getting paid (check)
- suggest only land owners should be able to vote (check)

There is an sequence to this.  Don't try and rush things.  First, you have do deny them every possible right, consideration and form of respect.  Then you can round them up and kill them.

Why kill them? Just throw them into for -profit prisons and taste the sweet sweet profit.

I think once upon a time there was some US court case where a Muslim immigrant was smacking his Muslim wife around because she wasn't being submissive enough, and a judge denied a restraining order against the husband under the theory that the guy was just doing whatever his religion told him. Now you'd think "keepin' yer woman in her place" would be the sort of thing that would resonate favorably with your average regressive right-winger, but because it was all Islammy, they immediately saw the danger of some slippery slope where all of a sudden you can't buy beer or have guns or pray to Jesus, because Allah. I don't know, I probably have some details wrong.

At any rate, "ZOMG! Sharia Law gonna take over in the US" has somehow become a popular right-wing meme.

The fact that they are even having the debate shows that they are having difficulty understanding those in poverty
...or those that care about it
...or how it affects the nation overall  (including rich folk and companies)

I was making a comment that these backwater rubes vote -R to keep Sharia Law away, but don't mind installing a Christian form of government. A ltittle obscure and convoluted I know, but Mr.Showrules got it.

Yeah, I had you figured for smarter than that. I was more confused by the wording, but I think I might have caught sayof.

Is there a way we could get them to compete in life and death competitions for our own amusement/additional revenue.  Something like Running Man or Hunger Games but not so sugar coated.

Waterboarding HAD to be stopped because it was exposed and it's in clear violation of the Geneva Convention and offended the WORLD.  Not saying Obama would actually support waterboarding but he didn't fly in like Superman for heroic reasons.  If it wasn't exposed, bet yer ass it'd still be happening.

Obama did try to close Gitmo but quickly folded.  Started giving the same narrative as the Republicans once they freaked.  Politically quashed by the Republicans but Obama agreed in the end.  Hasn't been able to do anything in 5+ years.

There are still CIA renditions, "illegal combatants", extrajudicial assassinations, the PATRIOT Act, and a whole mess of other Dubya policies that continue.

And wtf is with the So Vote Republican?   I'm a Republican shill if I rightly criticize Obama??! They're just as bad if not worse due to their dangerous crazy-as-fark factions.  At least the Democratic crazy-as-fark factions are relatively benign.

No, god damnit FFS.  You are a shill if you think BOTH SIDES ARE THE SAME.

One is clearly worse.  That is the f*cking argument, and you are putting in the drawer in favor of some other irrelevant bullsh*t.

Either acknowledge the fact that the GOP is god damn worse or walk away in shame at your pathetic shilldom.

jakomo002: I'm a Republican shill if I rightly criticize Obama??!

If you were doing that, no one would be giving you shiat. Since you're picking random output from the outrage machine, we have to assume you're a Republican shill and appropriately ridicule you for it.
Because it's not like we can find common ground on something the left actually criticizes Obama for, like NSA surveillance. The minute it's tried, up come the cries of "YOU'RE GIVING HIM A PASS ON GITMO?" because of some nebulous reasoning like he folded too fast, he didn't resist Republicans enough, he compromised at all, he didn't have 20/20 foresight, he wasted his political capital on healthcare, and a thousand other little things that we know you're going to bring up over every little thing Obama has or hasn't done.
We've seen the song and dance before, and it's had one political party criticizing his condiment choice. We can spot your Lite version from a mile off.
