Big talk supporting a team that has never won a Super Bowl when they weren't cheating.

I liked Boston fans more when about 20 years ago when they were still lovable losers, instead of the insufferable front-runners they've become since all their teams started winning championships in the Aughts.

Colt 45, Pats 10.

I normally would think the Pats would win this game, but the author of that article just buried the Pats in his douchiness.

BunkoSquad: Screw you, Shaughnessy. This is such an obvious setup for a potential post-Pats-loss "ha, ha, you suckers thought this team was invincible" column that it's ridiculous.

And here's why all Boston sports columnists suck. And the Pats will lose.

Was Peter King giving Shaughnessy a reach-around while he wrote that column?

Bane of Broone: Mr. Chainsaw: People don't like Boston sports fans because when you've won 8 pro sports championships since 2000, it makes you look like an asshole when you still pretend to be the scrappy underdogs.

I'll bite. How are they doing that?

Were you around during the 2013 MLB Postseason? Because they are only the 3rd highest payroll (or 4th, I forgot), they were the scrappy underdogs and David Ortiz was totally not a juicer like a-rod and that positive steroid test was a false positive.

Killer Cars: Let me be the one millionth Boston native to say CHB is a total hack and something of a troll, so pay no attention to him.

Now, the Colts actually scare me a little, only because they've put together a couple road games this year where they were strangely dominant on both sides of the ball (@ SF and @ KC come to mind). I think the Pats win, but the Colts have demonstrated it's possible for their usually soft defense to actually show up and for Donald Brown to go absolutely apeshiat.

Pick your half for the defense to show up. The offense shows up as long as Pep doesn't insist on his power-o, 6 linemen "0 yards up the gut by Richardson" formations. When the Colts have been playing 3 wide with no fullback, the offense hums really nice. As a Colts homer, it pains me to say this, but the game is little better than a coin flip with the nods to NE.

Nobody was a Patriot fan before 2001. Not even in Boston.

So the same people who were lovable losers because the were fans of Boston teams became "front runners" when the team started winning?  How does that make sense.

You're kidding, right?

No.

If the Patriots' success hinged on how big a douche their sportswriters were, they wouldn't have won a game since the Nixon administration.

Hi, Colts fan here.  Keep saying stuff like that, Shaughnessy, you typical Boston blowhard troll.  Sure, the Pats are better.  Sure, they'll probably win.  But it'll be a competitive, entertaining game.  And in the NFL anything can happen.  Thanks for the bulletin board material.

This is why Homers write so badly. Should be a good followup column full of coulda, shoulda, woulda. And probablyblaey the "refs sucked" too.

BunkoSquad: factoryconnection: It is fun to see Farkers get all indignant about trolling, like we'd never do such a thing. "Leave the half-witted hack-jobs to us, Shaugnessy!"

It's just that (a) Shaughnessy's trolling is 100% predictable and paint-by-numbers, (b) someone actually pays him a salary to do it, and pays to send him on the road to cover large events, and (c) as somedude210 said, people outside New England read CHB and think he speaks for us when locals generally hate him with the fire of a thousand suns.

So... he's an East coast Whitlock with less pointless race-baiting?

/Having him and Poz in KC for 15 years was truly like seeing each side of sports journalism every morning
