Still remember that my mom made up for getting me a C3PO costume when I was in preschool by getting me a Boba Fett one the next year.  And by costume, I mean the late 70s-early 80s idea of "plastic mask + outfit made out of the same plastic your tablecloths are made out of" costumes.

The Boba Fett movie probably won't be an origin story as much as a "coming of age" tale of how he became a ruthless and persistent comically clumsy bounty hunter.

Boba The Clone?

I hate saying it, but I am officially sick of Boba Fett.

You know why Boba Fett was awesome? Because we didn't  know anything about him; he was just that really cool guy in the really  awesome armor.

Well to be fair, "they" are an entirely different set of people.

Who gives a fark about Boba Fett?

2014-01-07 10:12:20 PM
I'd rather know more about Bossk.  Or IG-88.  Or how bout a Kyle Katarn movie?  Or at least a re-skin of Dark Forces and Dark Forces II?

/Please?

When? More like WHY???
Boba Fett was always a chump. Lived like one and died like one.

2014-01-07 10:15:26 PM

Hopefully farking never. Boba Fett is extremely lame.

How about a Wedge Antilles/Rogue Squadron movie? They already have the books to get plots from...

2014-01-07 10:15:37 PM
Maybe Disney can pull this off. Maybe this decade will see a wealth of interconnected Star Wars movies that rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe, building up a new generation of fans with their awesome plots, cool characters, great special effects and classic matinee serial storytelling tropes.

Maybe they can do it.

And maybe I need to stop drinking absynth.

2014-01-07 10:17:30 PM
This would have been a better idea had they not already destroyed the character.

In Empire, he got lippy with Vader and walked away. Then, Lucas killed him off as a joke. WTF?

No thanks.

May have been interested in a Boba Fett tv series.
Maybe something where for an entire season he was tracking an elusive bounty. Each week, bringing him closer, with dead ends and red herrings popping up all over.

But just a "coming of age" thing, would suck.
Unless, you find out that Jango's clone kid was killed early on and there was a mystery man under the helmet until ROTJ.

Or, in the 20 years between ROTS and ESB, Boba was simply a costume used by a group of hunters as a cover. That would explain that terrible ROTJ ending. The lame guy had the suit for that job.

he was a clone trooper in a different suit of armor. Its like when the pickle factories private label a percentage of pickles for Bob's Grocery. He should be called Jango's privately labeled pickle.

I'm not sick of him, but, I have a strong feeling this movie is gonna suck.

Let's analyze why the character was cool to begin with.

1. Barely spoke. Maintained a sense of reptilian calm through hand gestures and cool posturing. Bad-ass enough that even Vader acquiesced to his request for payment.

2. Mask never removed in the original films. No one knew WTF he/she was.

Sure, Hollywood. Let's go ahead and make a full story exploring his childhood and give him lots of dialogue. We were all dying to know MORE.

Leia was sent into his quarters in Jabba's Palace to be used as he "pleased".  He left her alone, let her sleep on his bed and just kept an eye on her for safety reasons.  Man had mad respect for Solo's chick.

How about an Azzameen family movie? The game X-Wing Alliance has been the best expanded universe property to come anywhere close to actually feeling like classic Star Wars.

2014-01-07 10:29:22 PM
Wasn't Boba Fett basically a glorified delivery boy? I mean, he didn't actually capture Han Solo as Lando had pretty much set that up.

I guess he was pretty crafty in collecting the bounty on a job that was handed to him on a carbonite slab.

/ sorry, that last line is just sad

ROTJ was the point at which Lucas' Asperger's/Narcissistic Personality Disorder took the story from a fun space epic to the tripe he originally envisioned for it.

Frankly, I'm surprised the film didn't end with a group of muppets in midget costumes playing xylophones made from Storm Trooper helmets.

Oh wait.....

Wait a minute, fellers!

FTFA: Metalocalypse director John Schnepp confirmed the rumor of a Boba Fett movie in a press interview. Speaking about the spinoff movies, he said, "One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan."

Well ... no. No. Even that doesn't get me excited.

I liked Boba Fett in the Tales of the Bounty Hunters and I also liked the Bounty Hunter Wars however, I have heard they really messed with him in The Legacy of the Force series where Jacen decided to become Sith.  If they do this, I hope they will understand the importance of mystique and not turn him into a Lobo like character.

2014-01-07 10:40:59 PM
The whole Jango clone hooey turns out as an elaborate cover for who he really is, which is a careful, impressive nobody.  That's the only way to vaguely redeem this destroyed character.

I liked that one, too.  The IG-88 story was amusing.

I'd like to see a movie based on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

And maybe a spinoff movie detailing the adventures of HK-47.

No, he was opposed to rape and premarital sex.  Leia and his dialogue was interesting for how it portrayed him as subscribing to his own set of strict morals.

I think in that story they did a good job of portraying him as time passed in the SW universe.
