Cyclometh: jaylectricity: Tuning in for a bit. I don't know my genres at all but I like a large portion of electronic music. I once had a conversation with a DJ friend of mine and we decided that all electronic music was "good" in a sense. Maybe you'll only listen to it once just to hear what somebody came up with. I guess that was back when we were a brotherhood.

I know genres, sort of, but I tend not to get hung up on them. This show, in my mind, isn't a thematically consistent set- it's a sampler plate. I hop genres, pace, tone and style, but the idea is to expose people to new artists and music. I could do a full set of drum 'n bass or glitch-hop or deep house, but that's not as much fun as just finding a bunch of new stuff that's at least loosely related (in terms of genre) and just playing it to see what people like.

This is all new to me. All I know is that I need a longer cord for my earphones so I can dance.

Just tuned in, and someone that has very minimal exposure to EDM in general, I'm digging this track.  Thanks for posting this link and I'm looking forward to more!

Smile-inducing, huh?

Glitchwerks: Stuff like Villalobos, Swayzak, etc. is awesome.

You should seriously learn to mix. I mean, not this music... it's kinda all over the place and definitely not mixable, but yeah, stopping the music and talking is one of the cardinal sins of DJing.

Yet another Pointer Sisters - Dare me sample. After Junior Jack, Dave Armstrong, Phantom's Revenge... how many times must this sample be raped?

...ehh..sorry... I promised no trainspotting.

Ishkur: stopping the music and talking is one of the cardinal sins of DJing

That's intentional. The point of the show is to introduce people to new music. I intro each track so people know what's what so that when the show ends they can go download the tracks they liked.

Sorry it's not working for you. :)

That's actually some darn good production.  Oh, well, you're biased.

I don't care what anybody says, I like ghetto funk.

Yeah, you're also not doing this part very well. You're throwing out terms and jargon without really fully understanding what they actually are, and none of it really applies to what you're playing. But that's okay.

I may sound like I'm complaining too much, but I'm actually really enjoying this -- I dig your style. I'm a big fan of the funkier side of things, and anytime you can bring the funk, I'm down. So keep it up.

Cool show, Cyclomth. I woke up los squabs, though, and have to go upstairs now to read a bedtime story. See you next Monday.

Yes, I am. I'm biased against stop-start music. I hate breakdowns, drops, or anything that brings the momentum to a halt. It's pop cheese fisher price fanfares for the punters who are so stupid they don't know how to enjoy the music without snare rolls and 1/16th sample slices until an exploding crescendo. Annoying cheap gimmick nonsense bringing out the brofists and hollaring. fark that bullshiat.

Just lay out a good groove. Get the people dancing. Don't make them stop. How hard is it to cut a track like that?

Yay. Bob James - Take Me To The Mardis Gras. Haven't heard that in awhile.

Good ole Run DMC.

What genre is this current track (Skrux - Being Human) considered?  I'm digging the vibe in this one.

This would be big, fat, sweaty, greasy, fistpumping, hooting, hollaring, grinding, axe body spray smelling, grinding against your ass brostep. The horror of horrors.

I really dig your audiobook voice I just heard from a sample.  Definitely not sing-songy like you're reading to 3-year-olds who need a narrator's dramatic modulation to tell them when something is good or bad.  And definitely not 'acting' like a stage play where one must emoto-shout so the cheap seats can hear.

Your reading voice is steady and soothing.

Any plans to record pre-18th-century European history nonfiction books?

This makes me want to fist pump and buy some axe body spray! WOOOO HOOOOO! Who wants a lemon drop?

OooShiny: Any plans to record pre-18th-century European history nonfiction books?

Thanks for the kind words! I don't have much control over the titles I'm offered, but I typically do historical nonfiction, so it's a good bet I'll do something in that area at some point!

Well that was fun. Can't say I'll do this every week, but I may wanna do it again someday.

Now, Civil Music might be making a lot of interesting shiat these days, but they are not making genuine dubstep. Post dubstep maybe. Future garage, post garage, maybe even microfunk. But not dubstep. That ship has sailed.

LOL Do you even hear yourself?
