Greetings, my friends! Thanks for joining us! New Music Monday is my weekly show where I play new, free (free as in beer) music. You can download any track you hear tonight for free, and it's legitimate (no piracy involved). URLs will be posted in a Google Docs spreadsheet after the show is over.

Tonight I've got a nice selection of dance, electronica, some glitch-hop, ghetto funk, some drum 'n bass and a couple of new takes on old standards. I hope you enjoy it!

You can tune in a few different ways:

Via web browser

http://siradio.fm -click the "Tune in" link at the top.

OR

http://tunein.com/radio/Split-Infinity-Radio-s107442/

Winamp/iTunes/VLC/Other desktop apps:

http://siradio.fm/page/desktop

Mobile devices

http://siradio.fm/page/mobile

Tonight's setlist (with URLs to download each track) will be posted after the show!

I hope you enjoy the tunes!

Awesome!

electronic, dance, house, ghetto funk, drum 'n bass, glitch-hop, electro-swing and more

What's "more"? Is it a genre that doesn't suck ass?

2014-01-06 09:27:32 PM
I'll have to check that out.

2014-01-06 09:28:34 PM
Will there be any electronic military parade music?

2014-01-06 09:30:03 PM
I'm going to actually listen in tonight, and I'm going to post here every time you trainwreck and/or make a bad transition.

But no pressure or anything!

/offer not valid if you play dubstep. If it's dubstep, I bugger off.
//promise not to trainspot

None of the links work for me. There is no "tune in" link at the top. The other links show rotating icons and other bullshiat.  Do I need to be a MS IE-tard to get this to work or what?

I'm not a producer or mixer. I just host and spin the music, so don't look for anything special, and because it's "New Music Monday" I give a brief intro to each track with the artist and title, so the transitions aren't going to be what your'e apparently thinking. That said, I hope you enjoy the tunes.

Right now the station's running with the auto-DJ, I'm not on until 8 PM Pacific, which is about 90 minutes from the time of this post.

Your thing with dubstep is silly.  There's plenty good dubstep out there besides the awful Skrillex/Excision/Datsik crap.

Still listening to Eddie Truck, maybe next time.

I'm a crotchety old man, but not as much as most Farkers apparently.

Been slowly dipping my eardrums into more electro-sounding stuff lately, so I'm all tuned in and ready to hear something new.

Will there be Zeppelin?

2014-01-06 09:46:57 PM
You guys need to troll better.  Dubstep doesn't go "OONCE OONCE."

And tracks that go "OONCE OONCE" don't have epic drops.

I already finalized the UK garage, post garage, 2-step, dubstep, brostep, grime and future garage genres several months ago.

I can assure you: There is no good dubstep out there.

/except maybe chillstep

If you spin the music, then I'm expecting seamless transitions like any sensible DJ. Otherwise, what are you there for?

(and not being a producer is a good thing)

Give a shout out to Ishkur if you're so bold.

We'll just have to agree to disagree.  I'd take good dubstep over garbage like Daft Punk any day.

That's not dubstep, that's drumstep.

And that's why it's good dubstep, because it isn't dubstep.

It's dubstep.  That's like trying to say neurofunk is something different than drum n' bass.

Just marking my spot to make it easier to grab the set list later.

Last week's set really opened my eyes to entire genres I had dismissed out of hand before even listening.  I have a degree as an opera singer.  I never thought I'd spend hours searching out Happy Trance, House, Dubstep and other Electronic.  I only wish I knew more of the genres and performers, and knew how to find good free music.

What can I say - the electronica makes me happy.  In a way no other music has before.

Cyclometh, you are doing good in the world. :)

No it's not.

You seem to be getting your DnB scene and your UK Garage scene mixed up.

They have affinity for each other (and thievery of each other's ideas, especially over the past 5 years), but esthetically they are not the same.

That's awfully kind of you to say, thanks!

I certainly make no claims to being plugged into any scene or anything like that . I'm a dumpy white guy in his mid-forties who likes this kind of stuff, but there's no way I could ever attend an actual performance by most of the artists I play on this show. :)

Most of what I find I dig up off of Soundcloud, Cavemansound, Earmilk, Hype Machine and a few other sites that I've just kind of found to come up with a good mix of new stuff that's got a lot of artist promos, bootlegs and freebies. I mostly just grab what I like when I hear it, and it tends to work out. I'm glad you've enjoyed what I've done so far!

We're just going to have to agree to disagree on it then.  Labels like Exit Recordings and Samurai Horo are pushing the drumstep sound.  Civil Unit is definitely coming from the dubstep side of things.

2014-01-06 10:46:56 PM
I mean Civil Music, btw.

Civil Music is all over the map but has a fair number of DnB artists (and electro, I might add) on its roster.

But you gotta understand that I'm the type of guy you are allowed to get very very specific about these sorts of things. When I talk about dubstep, I'm not talking about the annoying brostep garbage that farts out of the Rotten Crew. I'm talking about genuine stuff like this. And my complaint against dubstep is the same as my complaint against minimal tech house: It's positively banal.

Now, Civil Music might be making a lot of interesting shiat these days, but they are not making genuine dubstep. Post dubstep maybe. Future garage, post garage, maybe even microfunk. But not dubstep. That ship has sailed.

Now to listen to this guy's mix.

So opening with the Star Trek fight music was.... creative.

I keep hoping someone will do a real thumpy remix of that one. So far, I am disappoint.

There's far more dubstep than just DMZ.  Tectonic, for example, has tons of excellent tracks.

There's even decent brostep out there.

And it depends on which minimal tech house you are referring to, as there seems to be several definitions of tech house.  Stuff like Villalobos, Swayzak, etc. is awesome.

Tuning in for a bit. I don't know my genres at all but I like a large portion of electronic music. I once had a conversation with a DJ friend of mine and we decided that all electronic music was "good" in a sense. Maybe you'll only listen to it once just to hear what somebody came up with. I guess that was back when we were a brotherhood.

I know genres, sort of, but I tend not to get hung up on them. This show, in my mind, isn't a thematically consistent set- it's a sampler plate. I hop genres, pace, tone and style, but the idea is to expose people to new artists and music. I could do a full set of drum 'n bass or glitch-hop or deep house, but that's not as much fun as just finding a bunch of new stuff that's at least loosely related (in terms of genre) and just playing it to see what people like.

I dated DJ Melody. She was a coont.
