The video (besides being sideways) doesn't show the beatdown of some ginger-looking wannabe frat boy Eagles fan by a 6-4 235 lb tight end from a 1AA school.  And that's why it fails.

As to which one was the dumbass in that video....

Loudmouth had no business being a loudmouth. Still didn't deserve to be spit at, but on the other hand, getting spit at is still no reason to start a fight. In the end, we are all losers for having witnessed that, since it has only served to degrade our opinion of our fellow man.

He's at a farking sporting event. Cheering or yelling for the visiting team isn't "being kind of a dick," it's just being a fan. If you can't handle somebody simply cheering for the other team, you don't belong at the stadium.

He wasn't just cheering, he was taunting. This guy headed into a crowd of Eagles fans and was directly addressing them.

There is a difference, if you don't understand that, try to avoid going to any of your teams' "away" games. Cheering is roaring when the team wins, not making comments to the other teams fans round you about how great it is. Be a gracious winner, not this guy.

I've seen this from Notre Dame fans at the Big House. It's annoying, particularly when the Michigan fans around those particular jerks refrained from responding in kind when the Irish lost (I'd be embarrassed, rather than annoyed, if we had taunted them back when my team came back to win it). They were obnoxious to the end, too... the pair crying over the loss, but not a single soul got in their face (as they did to us) and say anything remotely mean.

I hate to say it, but if you couldn't ignore the guy, spitting wasn't a bad second option.  Too many kids around for profanity, you know.

Well, some people are sort of unsportsmanlike that way.

CSS: A friend's parents once drove four of us (teenage girls) to Boston to see a Bruins-Rangers game on Halloween (three of us in Rangers jerseys, one in Bruins). Just walking through Boston Garden invited all sorts of comments like, "Good thing you're not a guy or I'd beat the crap out of you," and (to my friend in the Bruins jersey), "How can you stand to be friends with them?"

Best line: A father and his young son, maybe 4 years old, were sitting next to my friend's mom and me (at the end of our set of seats). After we cheered for a Rangers goal, the boy turned to his father and said, "Daddy, how come they're rooting for the Rangers?" Father looked me square in the eye and replied, "Because they're assholes, son."

/ friend's mom, a very gentle and slightly nervous woman, nearly fell out of her chair in shock
// Rangers lost 7-3 that night, Steve Baker tore his groin and never played again
/// got to talk to Espo in the broadcasters' box after the game

Getting spit on and thinking that there will be no consequences for the actions is simply ludicrous.

You better be ready to fight. He was just counting on all the other Eagle fans jumping in and saving his ass.

i would never taunt in an opposing team's stadium... Maybe's its respect, maybe its self preservation.... but regardless, i take the spitter's side in that movie, even though i think the spitter was terrible himself.

Whar is evidence of floor mopping?  Whar?  Story is, young lout decides to spit on someone else in public.  Claims the two got into it later on are, as yet, unconfirmed.  Hardly worth a run on Fark.  But, hey, Fark loves to run its Dallas Cowboys and Jerruh Jones are a bunch of poopyheads threads.  And, all Eagle fans are borderline psycho killers who booed Santa Claus, threw snowballs at opposing teams and cheered uproariously when they thought Michael Irvin was dying on the carpet at the Vet.

Again, Taunting != Cheering

Wading into the middle of the opposing teams' fans and directly addressing them is NOT cheering.

Thanks for playing, though.

Nobody should be spit on, either. There is plenty of asshattery to go around on this one. Spitting is not a reason for battery.

Oh, I've seen that movie... so what you are saying is that the Philadelphia guy had AIDS, and his spit should be considered a deadly weapon, worthy of a beat down. Gotcha.

Meh, the "couple" is about as harmless as any standard couple from the West Coast of FL when it means any sort of gumption.

I had a neighbor who said in 2008..."if that thar tar-baby is elected, you can kiss this here country good-bye. I will shoot myself in the chest before we let some 'mmgrants steal our tax dollars for their unemployment and survival".

He still has a beating heart, he's on SS, his daughter is accepting disability and unemployment after getting knocked-up from a Cuban and she hasn't gone back to work since. He still blames the "negroid" for his families' problems.

Plus he still has a Palin/McCain sticker on the bumper of his '99 Chevy Silverado.

People from the West and East coasts of Florida are typically as different as people from South Florida and North Georgia.

One half typically accepts reality, the other half waits for their sister to sit on their face and let them know what to think.

Indeed. That's what they do apparently -- this is the second thread just today I've noticed them at it in today, though at least here they didn't specifically declare their willingness to actually kill anyone. Roid-raging through Fark threads, truly impressive stuff.

Ok, as a eagles' fan and a bit of an eagles' fan apologist (Santa had it coming to him, Deon Sanders was being a douchebag during Irvin and come on Dallas). What the Saints guy said and did was well within the bounds of what a visiting fan should do. His cheering was pro-Saints "Who Dat" "Going to Seattle"  whooping it up. It might have gone on for a bit longer than it should, but nothing worth getting excited about.

But I did laugh the idiot was like "I'm going to spit on you."

macadamnut: LesserEvil: Spitting is not a reason for battery.

It is, but a reasonable response isn't throwing fists. He could have just as easily called security and had the guy thrown out and banned from Eagles games (and probably charged with a crime).

I suspect the point of this guy was to provoke the Eagles fans, and he obviously succeeded. Both are douchebags.

People need to stop the idiotic "cheering" nonsense. He wasn't cheering his team, he was taunting the opposition team's fans. There is a difference, and anybody who doesn't know the difference should probably refrain from attending games (at home games you make your fellow fans look bad, at away games you might get your ass kicked).

2014-01-06 11:27:18 PM
Anybody that acts like that in a visiting stadium deserves to be spit on. Or just punched hard in the nuts until they shut up. Your team just won the game and now you're surrounded by angry drunks. Would this be a good time to a) execute restraint and let the victory speak for itself, or would this be a good time to b) really rub some extra salt into that wound? If you chose b), then you deserve the cock-punching.
