..." the endorphic rewards of the steady clickety-clack of steel wheels on polished rails..."  didn't lift her mood?

Yes, I laughed.

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.  Hard to believe but all things do pass, George was right.

Why do so many people who want to commit suicide feel the need to inconvenience everyone else?

Lunchlady: I have zero sympathy for someone who kills themselves by throwing themselves in front of a train. It's the most selfish thing you can do to involve other people who will now have PTSD cleaning up your brain matter because you were too chickenshiat to just jump off the George Washington Bridge.

You are a real peach

I was thinking the same thing. A gesture/cry out for help. Like taking a "small" overdose of Ambien. Still very dangerous with a great risk of death or brain damage. A 15 year old is not thinking rationally when she's in that state.

Probably because they are saying fark you world, and inconveniencing you is something they don't give 2 sshiats about.

/Kind of like how you feel about them killing themselves.
//My God! The inconvenience, I might be an hour late tonight!

I've never been suicidal myself, but have been close to a few people who were. It's a terrifying feeling when you are attached someone who can't see the good things in life and who even lacks any hope for the future. When it's a young kid, it's especially dreadful. My heart goes out to this girl; I hope she'll be okay.

2014-01-06 09:25:56 PM
I have a soft spot in my heart for teenage girls who want to have trains run on them.

You really think people who are suicidal are thinking clearly? And what is the inconvenience, that someone's train is delayed? Some attitude you have. I know I shouldn't be surprised about the lack of empathy on the internet, but still this is a kid who wanted to end her life. For some reason I couldn't care less about commuters who were inconvenienced.

Zeno-25: Death by train is pretty much one of the surest ways to pull it off, and if you manage to fail at that, well... enough said.

Ugh. I read an absolutely farking horrible account of a guy who was pushed onto the subway tracks and a train hit him. He didn't die immediately, but it did corkscrew his body in such a way that it was not a survivable injury. The pressure of being all wedged under was the only thing keeping him from bleeding out right there. When they jacked up the train to pull him out, he would die, and all the first responders knew it.

And he was conscious. And he knew it too.

The idea of instant death I can deal with. But that...

Nightmare stuff, that.

Nothing To See Here: It is a drag when you get so low that you want to terminate your life.
It is preventable, seek help, there are better times ahead. Not all roses, but good times.
Life does have the lowest of lows at times but there is so much possible good.
You are not the first to feel like it is all over, trust me, you can get past it with help.

Thank you for posting this. I'm really fighting it today and reading this helped me.

Same here, in Japan.

No, I saw someone try to jump and hit the side of the train.

In my city, we have above ground commuter trains. When I was a kid, I also saw someone get his face sliced open by a train's side view mirror. Stay back from the yellow line, mofos.

Lastly, I saw a cop car get smashed by the train during an over eager stop-and-frisk. That was hilarious.

Train suicide is not quick or pleasant.

You might get popped like a balloon in the guts, sure, but even then you will get cheesegrated along the rails as the train's conductor continues applying the brakes. You're then tossed like garbage to lay among the waste water and rat turds as you bleed out from a million tears and compound fractures contemplating what a mistake it all was. You don't die quickly.

2014-01-06 10:16:12 PM
imma let you finish, but the best attempted train suicide of all time was Katey Cooper. unfortunately, the pictures of her dressed up like Alice (of Wonderland) were on megaupload and i can't find other copies anywhere.

Do you even Physics?

In an elastic collision, the vectors all work out so that the lighter object will rebound mightily from the more massive object. A human is much lighter than a train or a car, so when we are struck by vehicles we are blown out of our shoes and into the air.

Yes, you can.

I had an ex-GF who committed suicide by pulling a train for 12 hrs straight.

It was a swampy way to go.

FrancoFile: If subway trains were invented today, there's no way the nanny-state people would let them be built as they are.  They'd have to be those enclosed double-door things like you see in airports.

They actually have this in some places in Japan to prevent people from committing suicide by train.  In Sapporo, it was known as the much beloved "human body accident" that would shut down half the line and would pretty always affect the main stations.
