I once got so drunk I accidentally walked into a train, as it was moving. I remember being knocked over and rolling around near the wheels as they went by. It's my number 1 "holy fark you're an idiot" memory. Nowadays when I get that drunk I can't remember it. I wish I could forget that one. Alas my youthful brain was great at remembering bad stuff.

Anyone else hate sites that make you answer a survey before you can read TFA?

The 15-year-old tried to jump onto the tracks at the 53rd St. R station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, but a mistiming of her leap instead found her slamming into the train.

I'm sorry, but I laughed.

Damn Millennials, can't even commit to throwing themselves in front of a train properly, yet feel entitled to die.

Death by train is pretty much one of the surest ways to pull it off, and if you manage to fail at that, well... enough said.

And this is why we need to increase funding to education. So in the future kids can properly calculate when to jump to achieve their goals.

I didn't see one.

If subway trains were invented today, there's no way the nanny-state people would let them be built as they are.  They'd have to be those enclosed double-door things like you see in airports.

Anyone else hate stories about a 15-year-old chick that don't include a picture so you can see if she's hot or not?

I knew a guy who tried to kill himself by ODing on LSD.  When that didn't work, he jumped off of a trestle into the path of a train.  It hit him and ran over him, severing both arms and a leg.  He lived.

/thought you're life was bad BEFORE?

Yes, you can.

You just need to take a whole crap ton. You can overdose on anything -- including water.

I did too.  I don't usually find this kind of thing funny, especially a suicide attempt.  However, since she meant to do worse to herself and failed, I feel we can laugh.

/now I can't shake the imagine of a clumsy teen girl bouncing off of a train.

No joke, those suicidal Japanese kids score much higher on train-suicide-jump-timing accuracy.

What's the over/under for months before the kid's parents sue the MTA for damages done to the daughter by the MTA's willful refusal to adopt safety measures that would have prevented this from happening?

Meanwhile, somewhere down the tracks, some person probably got pushed in front of the train and died without anyone knowing it happened.

It is a drag when you get so low that you want to terminate your life.
It is preventable, seek help, there are better times ahead. Not all roses, but good times.
Life does have the lowest of lows at times but there is so much possible good.
You are not the first to feel like it is all over, trust me, you can get past it with help.

I have zero sympathy for someone who kills themselves by throwing themselves in front of a train. It's the most selfish thing you can do to involve other people who will now have PTSD cleaning up your brain matter because you were too chickenshiat to just jump off the George Washington Bridge.

I feel so bad for her. This isn't one of those 'slash your wrists using a bic pen' cry for attention, she really wanted to off herself. I hope she gets the counseling she needs and feels better in every sense.

This hit close to home. I live little over a mile from this subway station and ride the R train daily. The station where girl jumped is like 4 or 5 blocks from Lutheran Hospital which has an Inpatient and Outpatient Psychiatric Hospital. Too bad girl could not have brought herself there instead. She's very fortunate if she didn't suffer brain damage. I guess this day, labeled the most depressing day of the year is living up to its billing for this poor girl. I hope she gets the help she needs to find the will to live. Sorry for getting all serious but this story hit home to me in more ways than one.

When you said "This hit close to home" I thought you meant something like this happened in your family, not that it actually hit close to your home.

One of the few times I can't snark on Fark. She's a 15 years old and sometimes things seem worse than they are or they are actually that bad. I hope she pulls through then gets the support she needs. Sad to think that someone so young sees no other solution to their problems except for suicide.

I cringe, imagining this poor young lady returning to a school where she is relentlessly bullied and the school does nothing about it, being taunted.. "I'd tell you to go kill yourself, but you can't even get that right!"

No idea if bullying was any part of her reason, of course, but ugh.

I meant that it hit close to home both literally and figuratively. I live very close to this station and ride the R train daily. I also went through a severe suicidal depression a couple of years ago and compteplated jumping unto those same subway tracks.Got the help I needed and have been stable for a while. It does get better guys, although I didn't think so a couple of years ago.
